this usage kinda is similar to how i used the red versions of this very piece for shaping the hind legs of my fire boar rahi... at least in it's aspect of forming a defining line for the shape/silhouette of the build...

All they had to do was... Nothing. And yet they overcomplicated the easiest thing in the world, somehow. But maybe, MAYBE they needed to do it for some reason. Like perhaps to make sure that every piece that has a bend to one direction, has mirrored version of itself. I could see that being a reason for this over complication. Or something. Because damn, if it was purely accidental, with no reason behind it then that's something that haunts the designer to this day most likely

"It's my IP to sit on and do nothing with!" (Insert Lego furiously dipping nuggets into sauce) That is my concept of what Lego thinks of selling Bionicle. If they can't make money on it, NO ONE WILL. As much as I would like to see other companies try their hand at it, I don't think it's ever going to happen. Also as an avid Mega collector, their distribution would be horrible so I would highlight that if they ever got the IP.

I have to be honest with you man, At this point I think most this are basically coping mechanism. I too think about this 'comeback' a lot, but i think 2001 bonkle works because of the market at the time. I think more about bonkle alternatives made by fans for fans with Kickstarter or something though I doubt the feasibility of such

MEGA should really make a bonkle Lookalike, or even reboot Neo-Shifters. old NS were quite terrible because their brittle plastic and lack of compatibility (their peg holes are compatible with Lego's Technic tho) Right now however, their plastic's quality is getting better, and they've been using technic-esque pieces on their sets. Also when it comes to molding fantasy creatures like those in Dragons series, they are AWESOME.

You should really check neo-shifters out, I bought one new in box the other week and was pleasantly surprised by just how packed they were with features and even gimmicks on the boxes like the scrolling lid wrap on the original mata canisters In general mega has had a fascinating history of trying to catch up to lego in the more creative ways and it's been a cool yet somber experience with the knowledge that my past dismissal of the brand ultimately led them to give up on original concepts and go all in on licenses, not that those sets are bad either though

I think that the worst thing that happened to bionicle is becoming hero factory and i think that lego continuing would go on that route, i experienced bionicle after hero factory and having 3 OG figures came to realisation that it lost itself along the way. I like them as hero factory but with that in mind there propably will never come new wave of bionicle at least from lego

Honestly, why not have Mega just hire Faber for any number of Bionicle like ideas he's got? The secret sauce of Bionicle was the tribal robots in a wild, untamed world with deep spiritual themes and foreboding mystery. Lego technically doesn't own that. Just make sure there's giant animals with gear functions and boom, instant new classic. Especially if it's focus going forward is "minimal new parts, maximal new colors for existing parts" for extra budget and moccing friendlyness.

@sethicusiii78782 күн бұрын
One of the things I have always associated bionicle with is customization. We grew up with a bucket and the movies so we've always made our own characters. Because of this I don't think minifig scale is the right way to go, even if it was Mega minifigs. my idea is a mega owned brick built system at around the same scale as the gwp tahu. They have a lot of experience in making unique shapes from bricks, and the occasional minifig large vehicle/scene set would be very much appreciated in the Mega format. I do agree with you idea of a smaller scale allowing for cheaper, (proportionally) larger sets. But i dont think going all the way down to minifig is the right choice.

This is such an interesting topic. Honestly, my biggest concern in a situation like this would be whether a new system for Bionicle would be introduced, and if it’d still be compatible with Lego’s part catalog. Like you’ve mentioned in previous videos, there’s always debate about what aspects of Bionicle should be considered its "core." Is it more about the story, or are the sets themselves more important? Personally, I think Bionicle was always intended to be a product line first and foremost. So, if something like this were to happen (even though it’s a pretty unlikely scenario since, as far as I know, nothing like this has ever happened), I’d argue that maintaining full part compatibility would be absolutely essential. Let’s have some fun with this: imagine if another toy company actually got their hands on the Bionicle IP, and Lego was totally on board with it. Which company do you think would be the best fit - one that could most possibly align with Bionicle’s story and aesthetic? Like do other system-based toy companies care about fan-service at all? (I don't have much experience out of Lego, so sorry if this might be a redundant question).
@skybirdmakes2 күн бұрын
This is a great question, and while I am familiar with some brands thanks to buying bootleg sets to review, I am unaware which brands place quality, story, fan-service in high regard. Surely several Lego-competitors do, I just don't often pay attention to them as much as I probably should! I think overall Mega Construx (Mega Bloks) cares about their fans given their several IPs, but they are just one such company that I think could reasonably handle a theme like Bionicle to some degree. That said though, it is a balance, and it is hard to please all the fans or know what everybody in the community wants

@@KougarManx468 I know the fan interest is there. It will likely comedown to logistics and who ends up heading the project. I think fan involvement and input could make it a success.

It is crazy that Lego system has so many sub themes, but Technic (an entirely different, but compatible building system) only has one theme. Introducing a new building system for Bionicle and giving both it and technic sub themes could go a long way toward carrying the new line of sets!
