You really struck the nail on the head with you're Toa Metru video too because you hit nearly every talking point I could have thought of and more! They're fine sets, great even in a vacuum, but I do think they are pretty overrated (I'm a Biased 01-03 fan though)

I remember when I had the parts, I mix matches parts from the Inika Hahli and Hahri Hahli. The white works well with the version of Hahli, especially when the white is mixed with the dark blue.

Some time ago I tried a dark blue and yellow color scheme for Hahli, mostly inspired by Scuba Slizer and 2015 Gali. What's super weird is that they made a new armor mold (the one on Matoro's shoulder pads) and barely any Mahri uses it. Imagine if Hahli had two pieces on her shoulders or upper legs. Also, DAMN, that Voxor looks nasty! In a good way, ofc. He looks way more organic now, very cool and disturbing. Oh and happy birthday!

Dark grey+light tan, one of my favourite color combo Speaking of Hafu, and the black color, I headcanon to replace all the black from 2001-2003 with black, cause: 1. in MNOG, the shade they use makes it look more dark grey than black, 2: Onua had dark grey/dark silver on his boxart, it also happened with other "earth" characters I think, 3: it just looks better, 4: I rather use the black with Makuta, and the Rahkshi(or I just imagine them having the colors they had in the movie, Vorahk obviously having some kind of grey), cause it references the Rahi having black, and also yeah it's a trope, but black just works better with villains overall. Also, something I noticed: this Metru evrsion of dark grey, while listed as sand blueish, I think it kinda have more of a purple shade, and it's even more noticeable with online pics, cause of the blue light of the cameras.So I think, a grey with purple shade works well with earth characters, and purple was already used with some Onu-Matoran, and in G2. (I also like to headcanon ice having more of like a very pale turquoise/sand green color maybe, with white being an additional color, cause I like to imagine white as primary for light/energy)

4:45 Im tired of people saying the 08-09 sockets are fragile. Yes, they are, but if you use the hair dryer before connecting them, detaching them or just moving the figure and if you also clean the ball joint with a light brush or glass cleaner, you will be fine. Its 2024, this should not be an issue.

It's not really even the fragility that's the issue here, but rather that I only own 1 dark red double socket apparently. I'll need to place an order for general pieces here soon

@@skybirdmakes Cool. Please do. I noticed of all my Glatorian, Stronius looks the most organic because dark red looks like darker skin from a distance. Vorox being dark skinned makes so much sense since they roam the desert. Its such a simple change you introduced that completely changes the sets vibe and makes it so much better.

I just swapped out the lime for the light blue pieces you see on Thok and Matoro Mahri to match her original Matoran set from 2003. The lime parts were in rough shape when I got her and couldn't support the weight of the cordak blaster on the arm. Might see what the white joints from Hahli Inika on here would look like.

I remember using Hahli for a Nikila build using the claw as the front piece of a trident, admittadly that makes it so I still need to get a new one for my Mahri but eh. Odly enough two pairs of those wings look really cool on my Icarax. So I´d say it´s just a really good parts giver.

I'm not sure that i agree with you, while the build itself is mostly a genetic inika build, the overall shape and look of Hahli Mahri is one of my favorite Bionicle sets, Matoro's build from that wave is more interesting than Hahli, but i believe that Hahli has a really good balance between the lime and dark blue (i actually think adding lime hips throws the balance off. And. The very slight use of silver in her also makes her pretty balanced visually. While the other colour schemes you showed are interesting, i believe the green and blue works best mostly because of it being a water character in an underwater scenario, and usually around water (blue) you get greenery, so i think the colour scheme kind of evokes that nature-y vibe with her

It's a set that many in the community seem to regard highly, minus the sockets of course, it's one that often receives Revamps and while I get it, her over all build ism't anything remarkable considering the other builds that came even from other 2007 canister sets

@@skybirdmakes isn't anything remarkable? You're too diplomatic. It's a lazy inika clone with a piraka torso. To me Bionicle started going downhill the moment it began repeating the same build over and over again.
