Weed can trigger psychosis in people with family histories of illness like schizophrenia. It's not GUARANTEED to happen, and most people won't have that happen, but it is something people should be aware of. And a lot of the time when people start experiencing symptoms of schizophrenia, they're too scared to accept what's happening to them and seek help because of how the illness is stigmatized in media and society in general, and they often turn to harder drugs in an attempt to cope and self medicate. This is what happened to my father, and is why I won't personally smoke weed even though I'm pro legalization. Not saying that's what happened to the guy Pig knew, but the story reminded me of this.

I have a few friends who get like that on weed, me nah, but it's interesting how it effects people differently. Edit: it's understandable to not want to smoke for even the chance of it happening

one of the reasons i refuse to do any form of drugs is bc im p sure ive had a history of havin hallucinations since i was young. only reason im unsure is bc it was seen as me "seein ghosts" which makes some sense as 1. my fam is paranoid and 2. it was somewhat graphic descriptions typically resemblin dead ppl(one of which was the "hanging lady with her braid around her neck" i had apparebtly told my llmom about as a toddler). however, a reason i believe these were actually hallucinations and not me seein ghosts was i had been introduced to violence and true crime at a very young age. and ive always had some p bad insomnia, and i tend to have worse hallucinations when overly stressed and sleep deprived. so these facts have lead me to believe that its actually hallucinations ive been havin since i was a toddler at least. when i learned that drugs can essentially unlock schizophrenia and other such mental illnesses i decided i would NEVER take any kimdve drugs. i was alr reluctant bc ive seen wut drugs can do to ppl, and my family smokin around me caused me to develop asthma(which my ma believes is a lie 🙄) but learnin about that no matter how rare made my resovle even stronger

@@Astr0_Man is it possible that at least some of those could have been dreams? I've struggled with sleep my entire life, falling asleep has always been difficult and I've always had extremely vivid dreams, and when I was very little I had a really hard time distinguishing dreams from reality. I also had really bad night terrors and would wake up screaming. Not to mention hypnagogic and hypnopompic hallucinations, which happen when you're waking up or falling asleep, and aren't symptoms of anything. They also get worse with sleep deprivation. Sleep paralysis is one of these. I used to get them CONSTANTLY and it wasn't a fun time, but they've barely happened ever since I've been able to get a somewhat decent amount of sleep.

I feel like the backstory is important, not to feel empathy or sympathy for them, but to help someone notice signs. You aren't just BORN a killer (i mean, i guess some people are but it's not likely), there's usually a trigger or a shift where someone goes down the wrong path. Maybe some people who've been through similar situations as these killers watch the backstories and, just maybe, realize they might end up like this if they lose themself and try to steer themselves back in the right direction. That's how I see it, at least. I understand skipping what can come off as a sob-story though

The point isn’t to shit on the people they were, but to shit on the people they are. That’s why empathizing with the past selves of evil people is understandable, imo. I do think the guy was dragging it out a good bit though.

To the chat who said that “what did you do? Did you help your friend?” If someone is not ready to get help yet, they will not accept it. And then at that point you’re forcing them. You have to wait until they’re ready on their own. As sad as that is.

My dad's sober for 7 years now. He always says you can show an addict their options but never try to sway their opinions because you never will. In every one of our conversations he always manages to tell me "you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink, only show it it has the option." Very fitting metaphor for sobriety imo

Coffeehouse Crime is one of my all time fave true crime channels on here! Adrian always starts his videos with background on the people involved to show how they got to where the crime occurred. One of the most fascinating aspects of true crime to people is usually the backstory and the psychological aspects. Would love for you to give him another go if you can get down with that.

Just because they have/had a past history of drug abuse or a criminal record that's non volent the cops brush them off. They don't deserve that and it's so f en sad man.

I disagree with his take about how we shouldn't care about if their childhoods and such lead to them becoming the way that they are. It's not about shifting the blame and saying they're innocent of any wrong doing, but rather learning what led to them becoming the way that they are and avoid creating future murderers.

I haven't watched in a while, but I even remember the last time we saw this story channel absolutely hating the way this guy humanizes awful people. It's like odd to me how often this dude tries to give excuses to these people. Just like pig said, we all have pretty wicked and terrible things happen to all of us at different points in life, and the majority of people don't go out and murder someone or beat someone because our lives suck. This whole "super-villain" archetype in people (bad things happened to me so I'll do bad things to others) is getting really old and childish. Be better than what's happened to you, don't perpetuate the cycle for someone else.
@dolphincorpse86685 күн бұрын
also wanna add, "filling content" isn't a good reason to humanize murders. It's a very similar concept to news channels doing a deep dive on school s*****rs. Nobody cares about these people, nobody cares about their history or back-story, talk about the victims and their stories while demonizing the monsters who cut those stories short.
