It takes 1000 years or more to break down plastic when we throw it away. What if we could engineer new plastics that can break down more easily? Try making your own vegetable-based plastic.

Nice job people. I got the idea of making bioplastic on my science exibition but most videos on KZbin were not much helpful. You guys explained whatever I needed to know. Thank you very much! Love from India. Keep the good work going!!!! Thanks again♥️

If only more people could see this, it could make a huge difference for our ecosystem! Everyone who sees this should share it with their friends and family. The more people know about it, the more likely someone is to mass produce it! Do your part and help build a path to a better future!

The problem in this is the energy you need to make it, and I'm not talking about the process shown in the video, but in how to get the starch. All the agricultural model is based in oil, and to produce enough amount of starch to make plastics will demand or increase the agricultural production, or take part of that production to plastics. Increase the production means increasing the oil consumption. Of course, I can not give the numbers (because I don't know them) but it will not be that easy nor ecological at all. I wish it would.

then you think is not a good idea? not huegue Jose! We need to care our enviroment as soon as possible. We have to stop the prague of plastic. is all over killing ours species. the see are contaminated. Think again.

Thank you for the very concise and comprehensive video! I'd like to know if this kind of bioplastic could resist outdoor conditions, such as heavy rain, sun radiation... Will it decompose after few rainy days?

@TrashCanDan
@TrashCanDan 6 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately these Bioplastics end up in landfills and the bottom of the ocean, which doesn't allow them to break down fully due to incorrect conditions that are needed, resulting in them living hundreds or thousands of years. Bioplastics are only better if they are disposed of correctly, which still in 2018, is not happening.

Then you can't keep things like soup in a bioplastic container in the fridge for more than a week because it will start decomposing...right?
@ananyavishvas1739
@ananyavishvas1739 4 жыл бұрын
No.. You can The breakdown of biodegradable plastics take place only in 6 months. Microorganisms take 30 days to decompose just 1mg of plastic. Since the temperature in the refrigerator is cold, it would further not allow bacteria to attack easily.
