I remember I was little when my dad would play the Bioshock games. When he told me what the big daddies and little sisters were called, I thought "They're just like us :D". And I'd imagine my family as the Rapture inhabitants, me and my dad as the big daddy and little sister. And my mom and brother as those crazy people that wear the masks

Big Daddies don’t usually attack unless you attack first or threaten the safety of the Little Sister. Heck, if you just get a bit too close, they simply push you back a bit to create distance before going back to what they’re doing.

If you think about it, big daddy ( aka Mr. Bubbles) is a really gentle giant, and only enters an aggressive state because you forced him to defend himself and his friend.
