The tone is nailed away not only by the narrative, but by the horizon... Best Ending: Skies are clear and sun is shining brightly--Eleanor is ready to change the world for the better. Worst (and the Save Myself ending): The horizon is a violent storm, and bodies float up from underwater--using Delta's instincts, Eleanor has become a true monster. This ending: the horizon has the rain easing up, the storm clouds in the air, but the sun rising in the distance. The clouds represent the darkness of Eleanor's soul, but the sunlight in the distance represents hope and redemption. Subject Delta's sacrifice has allowed her to make the decision to move towards that light and find redemption.

Cynical Aspie This neutral ending seems to me to be the most likely and realistic ending. People in general are not totally good or totally bad, they are a mix and generally they are at constant war with themselves and continuously trying to choose which they will be. This represents that conflict showing that while there is darkness in her heart there is also the desire to see the light. Also people aren't usually homicidal but on the same note in a war like state that is rapture you aren't going to come out unscathed, it's going to have an effect on you.

@NewTypeDilemma018 жыл бұрын
***** It's perfectly possible to get the good ending while killing all three of those people. Eleanor, following your example, would kill Sophia because "justice is a contract; once broken, it cannot be mended". Sparing even *one* of those targets on the good path, prods Eleanor to be merciful. On the flip side, getting Evil Eleanor to spare Sophia requires you to spare *all* of those people. Sophia would simply be spared out of spite--to taunt her throughout what remained her life with the knowledge that she was rejected by Eleanor. Kill even *one* on the evil path, and Eleanor kills Sophia...for the reasons she states in the video.

I adore how in this ending Delta shows that he loves Eleanor. Of course, in the other endings she’s able to know from the whole absorbing his consciousness through the ADAM; but he never truly shows it in his actions. Eleanor in the final level makes a mention of how Delta might not have wanted a daughter, but here he shows in his actions that her independence, her happiness, her sanity, and her future matters more to him than surviving. The neutral ending as a whole had me wishing I and Delta could just talk, say that we were wrong, that we’re sorry. But Delta can’t even speak, so him finally having the ability to convey what he can’t in words through action was unbelievably powerful. This ending is the perfect example of ludonarrative harmony.

Here's all the genius parallels between the opening and the sacrifice ending: 1. "Pairbond", the game's main theme, plays during both. 2. Delta accompanies Eleanor as she goes out. 2. Eleanor pulls Delta by the hand. 3. Delta sees himself reflected in water. 4. Eleanor uses her ADAM syringe on something; Delta watches in the opening and stops her in the ending. 5. Sofia successfully exploits Delta's nature as a Big Daddy in order to kill him. 6. Delta commits suicide; originally forced by Sofia, then by his own choice. 7. Eleanor can only watch as Delta dies in front of her.

My headcanon explanation for this ending is that Subject Delta, prioritizing his survival for Eleanor's sake, started harvesting Little Sisters. But that one girl... Cindy Meltzer, right at the end of the line. After hearing what her father did for her, he realized all too late how similar the two of them were. He couldn't bear to rip out the parasite keeping her alive that time. He decided just once to save something. Then things got even worse when Eleanor only seemed to pick up on his worst actions, his desperate cruelty. And so he decided to help save Eleanor, but that would be the end of it. He didn't want to be preserved, fearing that his ADAM would drive her mad. It was a tough decision; leave her behind, or watch her destroy herself. And choosing the former, he had hope for her, hope that she would live her own life well as a free woman... "But father... Wherever you are... I miss you..." It's hard to imagine a better reason for getting this ending. It's a beautiful, tragic conclusion. Must have happened because of the criticism 2K had for not having a neutral ending in the first! Thanks for making me cry, guys!
@JabamiLain2 жыл бұрын
I've got another headcanon. She saved every Little Sister so far. But his decaying mental condition due to him coming closer to either death or madness, combined with his sadness over killing Mark and fear of having Cindy confront a world that would break such a defenseless and precious fatherless creature, just like it broke Eleanor, he killed her as a form of twisted euthanasia. Eleanor, believing he did that because he was starting to get desperate to survive, decided to start harvesting Little Sisters as well, but, as she prepared to drain Delta's ADAM, the Big Daddy, although scared to death of the thought of seeing her confront the world alone, decides to have hope in her strenght, power and intelligence, and releases her to claim her freedom, because he doesn't want to watch her destroy her soul.
@Hewasnumber1 Жыл бұрын
Close to my interpretation of Delta’s character and actions. But I stopped earlier, because I just couldn’t anymore. Seeing the little sisters be scared of me just wore me down and I stopped harvesting them after the third level. Even when the sisters stopped being scared because I saved more than I harvested, I still felt like I was beyond redemption. Throughout the final level those sins came back in the limelight. Sofia Lamb cursed Delta and I agreed with her, I saw Eleanor harvesting little sisters and I wanted her to stop. But Delta can’t talk for me, and not just because he’s a fictional character, but because he’s also mute. I think he was scared at the beginning: scared of dying again, of not being able to save Eleanor. But his actions wore him down and he couldn’t justify his actions as necessary anymore. His fear of death was replaced by a want for it, and a want for Eleanor to just go and never look back. To live a life as her own woman, because both of her parental figures aren’t worth emulating.

BAD ENDING: True evil exists and to hesitate for the sake of pointless morals will only make it stronger. Big daddy has only one thing in mind:survival.He is not to blame of the people he killed,they are just in the wrong place and the wrong time.Its dog eat dog world and they are in his way. He will stop a nothing to find his daughter.The gun pointed at the sinners is steady and precise. To clean the world of their filth is a favor and no one will miss them .Eleanor is a child of rapture,weather she wants it or not and for her whole life she will carry the memories of that undersea hell. She has to learn that she has to stop evil whatever it costs or it will just grow stronger. NEUTRAL ENDING: Justice isn't always pretty and sacrifices have to be made for the bigger good. In the end,we are all just humans paying for our own sins,drowning ir own delusions of grandeur when we are actually so....so small. Eleanor has to learn that words like "good" or "evil" are shallow and childish and Its all about choice....and cost. Only herself can choose her own way in life and has only herself to blame if the costs of her choices were too high to pay. And this fact is scarier than anything rapture ever conceived. And at the same time..........so reconforting. GOOD ENDING: Monsters don't exists. Nothing they say or do will make you a monster. You know that deep in your heart. The people you find during your quest are not monsters.They are victims. Of greed......addiction.....fear. They are suffering just as much as you are. No need to dirt your hands with blood from pointless killing. Justice is already being made. They are seeing the results of their actions in front of their eyes. Let them alone with their own conscience and pray that they can someday find peace within themselves. Eleanor has to learn she is not bound to the pain caused by rapture and that there is always hope as long as the sun rises in the horizon.

If the Player is a Total Dick, they will get the Worst ending as well... And a Neutral Player will do things only if nescessary, like sparing people (most will kill them all :P) and saving little sisters (killing them only if they NEED ADAM) It sounds like a stupid theory , but this is what i think ;D (AND PEOPLE THAT DON'T LIKE IT, STFU!)

I wanted to get the monogue in which Eleanor learned that "good and evil" are not constants. But, maybe the "innocence is chrysalys" was the one I needed to hear. While in real life I never performed any real cruel or cut-throat actions, the truth is, throught games, it was showed to me I had the will to do it, if given the conditions. In performing those choices, a bit of my innocence died, and I learned about myself. But one thing is for certain. I am not going to allow Eleanor to be like me. I may be an illness. But it was my choice. Eleanor must also be free to choose who she really is. She already has the power to make it by herself. Now, she needs to find her own values.

Why does this make me so sad. I feel so bad for Eleanor, but Delta did the right thing. When he dies and sees the Lighthouse...it just makes me cry.

For some reason I like this ending the most. Instead of being in a state of pure, naive hope or in a state of a bloodthirsty rampage, Delta tells Eleanor not to follow in his footsteps but to be her own person. I hate to admit, but the good ending is so soppy. Being too naive to the world's suffering just makes the force of it's initial impact too harsh. Yet, the evil ending is just as bad because now there's a rampaging super-splicer on the loose.

I ended up getting this ending today. I accidentally killed my first little sister instead of saving her and it kinda bothered me the whole game. Then hearing Eleanor talking about killing little sisters and all that stuff I was like noooo. I’m glad I got this ending though. Made me tear up

focusing on your own happiness, on your survival ,even if it was paid for by sacrificing others, doesn't make you a monster. it simply makes you a survivor. if you had to kill and purge to survive, it's their deaths, not yours that do not matter. saving the majority vs yourself, is a question without an answer. because it all depends.. sometimes saving others is not worth the effort, and sometimes saving yourself is not worth it. if it was upon me, i'd have chosen to save Delta instead of leaving Eleanor alone. rapture is not a place of moral code compass, also the morality changes depending on the situation, saving the majority is not always correct, and sacrificing them is not always correct either. but when it comes to your personal survival. all else can go to hell! you aren't a monster .. sadly you were born inside a monster ... the world around is the monster, not you. the experience you go through shapes you, and forgiveness and self sacrifice aren't always the answer. sometimes self sacrifice is stupider than the end conclusion. the only thing that is guaranteed is you will never win "gratitude" from anyone as long as you live. appreciation is simply not written into the human soul. it only get created after you die. i am planning on playing the game 3 times. once genocide your survival is all what matters 2nd save all the little ones but kill all the bosses, the young deserve to be given a chance to live, while the grown evil deserves purging. and the last one, i'll try to finish it with my drill alone. death is inevitable. just deal with it. you can't save everyone, and some times revenge is the greater option.

This is better than either the good or bad ending. The bad ending ruins the beauty of the escape with a jarring demonstration of invidious self-interest by Eleanor which destroys the father-daughter relationship whilst the good ending is too gentle and sweet. This ending is great because it shows just how reliant Eleanor was on her parents to shape her, despite her desire to break free, and by killing Sofia and letting Delta die, there's a sense of loneliness that persists here.

Soo, i guess Delta has broken every bone in his body?
@peepuschrist56706 жыл бұрын
no, lamb broke the bond between Eleanor and delta when she somewhat suffocated her, this meant there was nothing holding back his life, he was slowly dying as his whole purpose for existing was somewhat destroyed.

I love how Delta has no dialogue of his own in the game, when i got this ending and I chose to die i was thinking in my head, "Eleanor don't become like me, learn from my mistakes, don't be a monster like daddy."

Side characters I'm talking about are Alexander, Grace, and Stanley. They only affect whether Sofia live or dies. To get neutral, save and harvest little sisters.

I mean remember, big daddy's aren't like humans, they don't feel empathy, they strive to defend their little sister, so realistically, delta would kill anything in its path to protect Eleanor

@Oaksparrow Yes, if Eleanor stayed in Rapture, Delta was stuck there as well, but as long as there's a "healthy" distance between her and him, it's fine. It has nothing to do with being in Rapture or not.

@magamaniac84 I was shocked that Eleanor killed them all too : but I've just convinced myself that she saw you once killing lil sister,stopped following you and that she got knowledge that you've saved the others by extracting some adam from you and suddenly stopping to let you decide your fate. Best ending.I've killed one sister on purpose and sort of "tried to compensate for it" during the rest of the game.
@niftuCal13 жыл бұрын
@whitewarrior12 The worst one is when Eleanor ignores your will and steals your ADAM, to use your knowledge in helping her conquer. This one offers Eleanor a chance for redemption, which she mentions, and which is why she's sad instead of malevolent.

This is the saddest ending, her father doesn't want her to do follow in his footsteps and she just killed her mother. She is left with nothing....
@sailormoon26212 жыл бұрын
That's because the bond Subject Delta and Eleanor had as a Big Daddy/Little Sister was severed by Sofia Lamb, which would slowly but surely killed Delta due the fail safe feature programmed into Big Daddies. The explosion caused from the bombs obviously sped the process, so that's why Eleanor can either save him (which can either be good or bad, based on how you treated the Little Sisters) or let him live his last few moments before death.
@Illsteward13 жыл бұрын
@Lennon1398 VitaChambers only work in Rapture, where your Adam gets to them in form of blood/skin/whatever they use to reconstruct you. In this case, none of his DNA-carrier (ADAM or blood) get to VitaChamber, so he could not begin the regenerating process. Of course, the only canon reason is "because that won't be freaking ending of the game, if you just got down and start all over" :)

Actually Killing Gil prevents you from getting the "Saviour" achievement so it's apparently evil to do so (don't ask me why since I was dumbfounded as well). However you can still get the Good ending if you kill the people you meet. It's basically; Good: Rescue all Little Sisters Neutral: Harvest one or more Little Sisters Bad: Harvest All Little Sisters Killing Grace, Stanley, and Gil only affects if Lamb dies. =)

I'm glad I got the neutral ending it's still very beautiful innocence is only a phase the real measurement of your values is what you choose to do when you know the consequences of what you decide.
@Iforegott14 жыл бұрын
@Mabuu29 I've wondered the same thing. it may be that it is, because in every other ending you see Elenore's reflection in the helmet which is a reference to Dr. Lamb from a earlier of "forcing a mirror on a faceless man" and how in the adventure delta gains a face by how he acts toward others
