I love my row counters… I made them myself with number beads, some pretty clear pearl beads and some wire after watching a couple of videos on YT… I made myself a 1-9+0 one, and also a 1-5 one for my hats where I have 4 and 5 rows to keep track of (like the wurm hat)… they were definitely a game changer for me … I ALWAYS forgot to use my manual row counter! I’m an interchangeable girl tho, I love my Knitpro Symfonies I got myself a ball winder for Xmas… just the cheap China one….but it’s FABULOUS! All my yarn is so pretty and organised now 🫶

September 14, 2024: Brilliant with the photo box. I have one that is colorful from Amazon that I use for notes instead of journals. Now I need to get another one!! Love the organization and just was so frustrated with what type of storage to use that limits you too. The needles are priceless and making a home for them like the photo box is brilliant. Now, another orgnization to get into to streamline also a small space, I wonder if I could add my crochet hooks? Box could hold row counters also. This has so many possibilities to enjoy the knitting to crocheting with all your needles and hooks in one place. Glad today I came across your channel. Definitely getting the row counters and needle stoppers. 😊

I really like the Needle Box storage! I keep mine in labled pencil bags....the vinyl that go in binders. It works okay.

I recently bought a yarn spinner to hold my yarn while I knit. Its fabulous and stops the ball running away or losing its shape. Only cost $15 AUD

I have two sets of blocking pins, got the type that came with the 2 packages of T pins and measuring tape included . Working on my first shawl. Need my digital yarn scale , mine doubles as a postal scale for work. I have el cheapo umbrella swift that perhaps will need to be replaced evetually if the same thing happens to me. Ball winder is a must. I use mostly ChiaoGoo but have interchangeables as well Row counter for me is smaller , loop over needle , abacus like, 10 beads slide up and down , pull one down each row as completed , with a little marker that clips in between for 10's, 100 is my limit for it . Ah yes, agree , a spool of cord for try ons , I just cut to length , that is a must , thinking about waste yarn and transferring one stitch at a time, a time saver Bulb markers , a definite !! Bonus items : Measure tape and stitch gauge in every bag as well as the short crochet hooks in 3 sizes on a ring for fixing any dropped stitches

I'm glad this video found me. I am in need of organizing help especially since I got into knitting and sewing. The photo box for your needles is perfect. I have a lot of cables and this will be perfect for cables, circular needles, and other notions.

Have you tried the Row Counter app? I love it. Imports your pattern from Ravelry and other knitting sites, I believe. I'm going to buy the needle box, mine are a giant 3 ring binder. Thanks for sharing.

Yes! I do like it a lot when I have someplicated repeats, for example "decrease every 8 rows" but the pattern repeat is more than the 8. Super nice to have it count both for you at the same time!

Barber tubes are also available in larger lengths on Amazon. Wish I knew earlier because buying it single with the cute round tin case is a bit too much when all you need is the tube. Plus you can customize with using a shorter length for infants or childrens.

I agree with your top 5 tools. I like how you store your needles,it's something I need to do. Looking into getting more chiagoo needles they are my favorite. They're great for magic loop. I also own interchangeable wooden square knit picks .

Great list, my top 10 is pretty similar (except for barber cords which drive me crazy haha, they have been much fiddlier for me than scrap yarn or cable cords, every time I try them I waste more time from the barber cord popping off). The row counter gadget has definitely completely changed my sleeve knitting, besides making counting rows easier it keeps me motivated. Totally agree on knitting combs for blocking, soooo much better than the alternatives. I have a couple sets and use them all. I like to use quite a few when first blocking a project to keep everything perfectly straight. I do use one of the knitting needle cloth hangers with slots for all of my fixed needles, it works for me and takes up almost no space. But if I had a bit more crafting space your tote is a super organized solution.

@@birchandlily It is a bummer since everyone seems to love them so it must just be me! But not a big deal I'm fine w just using really long cable cords

I love Chiagoo needles! I have had other cables break from the needle tip with other brands, and it is so frustrating and heartbreaking to drop stitches or have to stop knitting until a new cable needle can be purchased. I’ve never had that issue with Chiagoo, so I’m never switching! 😊

I totally agree! They're the best!

So glad to hear this! I am a brand new knitter and trying to decide which set of interchangeables to get and I'm heavily leaning towards Chiaogoo.

There are some plastic safety pin type that comes in two sizes. The larger on might work better for you.
@ravsma9 ай бұрын
Split rings work well for between repeats. I tie on yarn tails to color code the maneuver needed. If a more movable marker is needed, actual safety pins (in no-rust brass) do the trick.

I wished the chain row counters weren't so pricey here in Australia, and those blockers go from $32 for off brand to $50+ name brand here...unfortunately.

I really dislike the lightbulb stitch markers. They fall into the narrow part and get stuck. As i rarley remove my stitch markers until i get to that stitch it is at i prefer solid rings. But for crochet they might work better as you actually place the markers onto the yarn and not to a needle. But thats just how i use them so 😊
@birchandlily7 күн бұрын
I definitely have that happen sometimes - but I lose my stitch markers so often, and this way they're super cheap and I don't feel as bad lol.
