The came out great. When I saw it coming towards the setting sun and in that dark background I knew it was going to be special. I have to get that shoot manual video out soon. That shot required you to really underexpose and work the light.

Very nice but I don't know how you handle that cold weather. Down here on the gulf coast we've had a few cold fronts push through here already and when I've been out in the cold winds coming on shore I've been thinking I need a ski mask. Never heard of Northern Hawk Owl before but thought your sunset photos of the bird were exceptional. 👍👍

The wind usually isn't a factor in South Central Alaska unless you are out on the ocean or the Spit. Now the interior....ooof that cold. -50 and high winds.

I have a Canon Ef 300mm f/2.8L USM IS II version lens. It may be ambitious, but Canon has taken the sharpness and quality to the next level in its 2nd series tele lenses. Lightness and a few updates came for the next models.

I love the 300 2.8 MKII. I used a friends ages ago and its why I bought the 500 f4 mkii actually. From the first shot I took with the 300 I was amazed.

Those are some amaaazing shots! I am glad , you used EF500mm M2 and i could see how it performs with R5 M2, coz i am actually thinking of getting one for myself, but arent sure if i should go Sigma 500mm f4 instead? (quite a price difference) What is your opinion?

Go Canon. The AF is going to work much much better going native. Next Sundays video will showcase the lens again.

Nice shots Scott! I'm wondering how you determine the distance to your subjects. Is it an estimate (by 'guessing'), or do you use a tool in Lightroom or something? Keep the vids coming, have a great X-Mas!
