Two beauty shots. I'm hanging my hat on the 2nd, this has more dynamics in its presentation. I like that the horizon (denoted by the ocean and base of the mountain) has been taken away leaving the grassy dunes in the mid ground (they really are the star in this scene with that wonderful light). And, the obvious mimicking of shapes of the grassy dunes and the mountains in the background is a nice touch. Critically I find more interest in the rippled sand foreground of the first shot. What a place, Iceland.

I like the first one. It’s such a beautiful and expansive scene - and really makes me want to be there in that moment. The second one definitely has some interesting things going on the composition, but doesn’t give the same sense of scale and I don’t really care for the big shadow in the foreground. Great video. I’m looking forward to more from Iceland!

I love Iceland. I'm having a hard time picking which picture is best. I'm going to say, the first one. I know what you mean about that warm glow making the sand look like common sand. But, the big shadow in the foreground of the 2nd one blows out all those lovely sand lines. They are both gorgeous.

I have the hardest time trying to choose between shots I take myself... now you are pushing me to make me choose one of yours... ugh! Seems many prefer the 2nd shot but I finally found several folks who like the 1st better. I have to go with my first impression else I'll still be looking at the two of them when your next video comes out! I lean toward the first one. The foreground is a tad overwhelming in the second shot to me. But then that's what makes life interesting... different things appear to different folks. Love your videos Gavin and especially love your educational videos and classes. Thanks to you and Amanda for all your good works to bring us great content!

Usually everything, well most images of Iceland look like Mordor. These pictures are stunning. Even the grey sky of the waterfalls is over powered by that Carribean blue water. I will vote for the first image of grass and mountain. The green grass and sand are the stars and here and there is more of them to see. There is something unsettling about the second image. Maybe, it's like the dunes or the mountain are photo bombing each other? Not sure which. Nice to hear there is more to come!

Great video. I like the 1st of the two black sand photos because of way the shadows from the ripples point to the mountain.

The warmer shot, I think as as you say it brings in the tone of the sand that fits with the rest of the image. Plus, there is something of the composition and lead in lines of that tone that looks inviting. Just my 2 pence worth though

Nice, You certainly had better weather than I did in the first week of August. The Bruarfoss I also shot with the long lens from underthe bridge. I also managed to get sharp shots using the drone with the 10 stopper and 1 second exposure time. since you are an hasselblad user and you used the 25mm f/2.5 extensively, would you also agree cropping the 100 megapixel file taken with that lens is perfectly fine? although I am happy seeing hasselblad making zoom lenses, if I try to see the matter from the perspective of an existing hasselblad user, this new lens doesn't make much sense unless you like burning money like wood in a stove.

Hi Gavin. As fo rthe pics at Vestrahorn, I have it really difficult to decide which one of them I like more. The first one shows slightly better what is the actual landscape, with the sea between the dunes and the mountains. But the second one is more moody, more dramatical. So ... And well, I must confess I'm suffering a hard attack of envy for three reasons: the camera, the lens ... and Iceland. All of the three in my bucket list 😂

Gavin, the two photos from 9:05-9:15, is the vingnetting from the lens, or was it added in post? Beautiful shots, though. After looking at the other images they too look like they have the same vignetting, so I'm thinking the lens has the same vignetting that other very wide angle lenses on other camera systems suffer from.

Phenomenal lens, with a rather phenomenal pricetag. Think I'll be sticking to my smaller, lighter primes. (And hoping that Hasselblad makes more P lenses.) As always, you've captured some absolutely stunning photos. Out of the two Vestrahorn shots, I'm personally more drawn to the first. I prefer the perspective, with the body of water separating the dunes from the mountains, and a better view of the distant mountains on the right. It feels like a more natural perspective, and I could imagine myself standing right there taking in the awesome landscape.

Cool lens. I’ll keep my 21mm prime. I thought I would miss zooms when I switched to Hasselblad but at the wider end it’s easy to fix composition with your feet. I’ll be interested if they ever release a longer zoom in the 75-150 range. I saw your shots featured on their instagram page. Great work

@markr39262 ай бұрын
Looks a great idea but a slight bit of wind and it is giving camera shake unfortunately. I'd love this to be a good idea but it just isn't. You need a separate tripod holding a golf brolly over the setup or a camera that is very water resistant. Or just hold the brolly if possible.
@mozzman2 ай бұрын
@@markr3926 Except there's no wind in this instance. Why create a scenario that didn't exist, just to state the obvious?
@markr39262 ай бұрын
@@mozzman Happy to answer that for you. Ashstubbings2603 and or any other viewer might see the brolly holder and think great idea, excitedly buy one only to discover the scenario I describe absolutely WILL occur and they will realise they wasted some money. It is very easy to not realise that something which looks a good idea actually isn’t and when they found out it’s too late. So I was trying to be helpful. If my comment didn’t help you then great no need to get all comment police about it. My comment was polite, accurate and might save someone some money.
