Wow Rich that was absolutely amazing outstanding images, really enjoyed the video footage photography was fantastic, so many different species there and the Merlin footage and photos oh Rich FANTASTIC well done you mentioned this local meadow when first moved there you the ground work and certainly paid off brilliant,thank you for sharing this amazing video with us.Martyn

Glad you enjoyed it my friend. It is such a magical bird to watch and photograph, I've found a lovely male this morning about 1/2 mile from the meadow close to me, got a few shots of him but I need to put some more time in to get a better image. Lovely to catch it on video too. Cheers Rich

Thanks Dad, I was really lucky with the Kestrel as I've not seen it since, lol... The Merlin is still about though. Yeah the weather in Canada is always pretty darn good. Cheers M :-)

Great video today! Super photos and video of the hunters. My favourites to capture. The east end (I assume) seems to be treating you well. Those Pileated woodpeckers are really something. It amazing how quickly they can make a good sized hole deep into a tree. I was lucky to get a pair of Trumpeter Swans and my first Northers Harrier this week. Cheers, Phil

Thanks Phil, So glad you enjoyed it. and lovely to bring others along with me, it was a challenge at times as they were a bit on and off in location but plenty of time out in the field and it eventually paid off! Yes, East end. Yeah they are so big aren't they and this stunning male was a beauty! Lovely one on the Swans and I'm jealous of the Harrier, one of my favourites for sure, I've heard of some locally so fingers crossed I see them soon. Cheers Rich 👍

Such a great location for those little hunters. Really nice footage of the falcons - I find them to be very skittish. I didn’t know merlins ate dragonflies - interesting! Pileated woodpeckers are one of my nemesis birds, lol. Very cool to have them so close to home. I might have to ask Santa for one of those harnesses, I really need something like that. Wonderful relaxing nature video, as always. ~D.

Thanks ever so much Dee, at home in the UK they are very skittish but here they seem to be much better, saw a beauty Male today further down the way, he was a stunner! Yeah I was lucky to see it right near home, so big it's hard to explain to people that haven't seen them before! The G3 by Cotton Carrier is superb and goes with me all the time now, better on my back too! I hope you get lucky and you've been good.... Thanks again Rich 😀

Another wonderful video! Love the raptors you manage to spot! I saw a kestrel and a marsh harrier, at a distance, this afternoon! (No camera - they always come out when I don't take it!) But the prettiest image for me is at 8:52 approx - just love the light in it and the little bird with beak open. (I missed what bird it was, though.) Look forward to next episode!! 😊

Thanks for watching along with my latest video. I think In was quite lucky on these trips as it's gone quieter now but still a few good species around. Wow, I love the Marsh Harrier and miss the Eurasian Kestrel, beautiful birds. That bird was a Song Sparrow, maybe I should put the species and camera settings back in my videos, would that be better? @@RichardBirchett Ah thanks for the ID. That's lovely. Yes, if it is not too much hassle, the species and settings marked on the still images would be a real help. I personally quite like to look up new species and have a little read about them. I bet I'm not the only one! And camera settings I am sure would be much appreciated by many of your subscribers, me included!

Brilliant stuff Rich. Great to see so many species. I have the 800RF and am constantly surprised by the shots I can get with it on my R5. Would love to upgrade sometime but torn between the 100-500 and 200-800 because of how much I use the 800RF. Having that larger focus area would be lovely though! Keep up the great work 👍😀

Thanks Mike, glad you enjoyed it. It's a good lens in the right hands and produces nice results in good light, but as you say the focus area is very limited! On my R3 it's much better. That's a tricky one, personally I'd stick with the 1-5 over the 2-8. But I may get one at some point. Cheers Rich

0:39 A little random tidbit - that's a baby green ash tree I think (Fraxinus pennsylvanica) A bit endangered these days because of that invasive beetle problem

Thanks very much, sorry to hear it's not great at home! Most of the time back home they take, pipits, skylarks etc but here they don't half like the dragonflies. Haven't witnesses them hunting anything but! lol... Might just be sheer abundance. Cheers R
