Bird Tape for Deflection and a Deterrent

This video is about using reflective bird tape for deflection and as a deterrent to keep birds from eating our blueberries. This Mylar tape reflects a kaleidoscope of light and also makes a rustling noise as it's blown by the wind. This year, we're using only this method to see how well it works as a "scarecrow" technique. Please stay tuned for updates!

Thats wild. I came here after the bumper crop blueberry picking tutorial. Im not sure I have enough wind for that. But it sure beats having to cover whole plants, which is what I'm doing now.

You're very welcome, Kathy. RE Tape. Yes! Glad to say it worked very well. This orchard is mostly unattended. We only visit here about 2 x /week. So we're gratified that with the bird tape in place we were able to harvest over 40 pounds of blueberries this season from 60 bushes. RE Deer deterrents, we've used the "water jet scarecrows around our vegetable garden. And for areas where we cannot run a hose we use Milorganite fertilizer, placing a band of it around whatever crop. Milorganite is a derivative of the Milwaukee water treatment system. ​@Gardens All, thank you for your helpful video. Will this tape keep wild turkeys from pecking at my car? I have a porch railing to hang it on and a mounted mailbox. Should i wrap the tape around a wood pole and mount it in my yard on both sides of my driveway where the turkeys peck at my car? You said to leave the tape loose to flap in the wind. With my info, can you recommend any more info? I read to use vinegar. I was thinking of pouring a bottle of vinegar around my car. Would this help? Of course it would wash away when it rains.
