Thanks for doing the comparison videos! How far apart are the beds? If you knew you were going to put the cattle panel arch between them would you change how far apart they are?
@michelleinthemeadow7 ай бұрын
Great question. And now that you've asked, I'll be more aware in the future. If I had known, I would have made them 4 feet apart. This is barely 3 feet. Not quite enough.

I wouldn't worry about toxicity leeching either...however, keep in mind, just because the USDA says it's safe....does not mean that it's actually safe.

Hi Michelle! I can't believe it's been a year already! Congratulations! And thank you! Thank you for all of your very hard work in planning, recording, and editing your videos. Not to mention the physical labor of creating the gardens to begin with! Speaking of the labor, I hope you're going to have strong assistance with digging out the beds, repairing, and filling them again; also with new beds. Love the categorized notes! I'm a nerd that way too, and I so appreciate it in others! Yours made for great flow in this video! Mark does a good job teaching us about his raised beds, but nobody can hold a candle to your thorough, clear, detailed approach! Have a great week! Good health and happiness to you and yours!

Regarding the screws rusting: I got two Birdies beds in June of '22. For various reasons, I never got around to constructing them. They sat outside next to the garden, getting soaked when the lawn was watered and sitting through all the unusually high rainfall we had in NorCal last winter. I just this month put the beds together, 11 maths later. The cardboard boxes were trashed and the bags holding the screws, etc. were full of water. The screws were fine, not a speck of rust.
@michelleinthemeadow Жыл бұрын
That is good to hear. I will re-check for rust, I think we are all good, though. Welcome to the channel.

This is the best review/s on the beds I have come across. I have 8 birdies beds and am happy except for the trimmings on the rim. I see they are selling extras, but for the cost am not buying anymore. You have done a terrific job describing both beds, and it's time for them to send you out some out some new products for review. My opinion. Thanks Michelle, you have done a great job!

Thank you for your reviews and occasional updates. I appreciate how clear your explanations are. I would love to know how the screws compare inside the bed, beneath the soil, since they stay pretty moist and arguably take more abuse.

Thanks once again for a great video! I would like to share that we placed our two Birdies' Beds with grass immediately surrounding the base of the bed. We have had zero wear and tear from the string trimmer after a year. I didn't think about the possibility of damage when we installed the beds, but will keep an eye on it.

Can I put the garden fabric under the bed? I plan on using the 3.5' x 6.5' and 2' x 8' vego one and I want to plant things like strawberries and stuff like that, things that don't care that they're growing on a box on rocks. lol I also want to denture critters since like... We have rabbits, birds, and squirrels.
@michelleinthemeadow Жыл бұрын
That is a great question. I would imagine that you can put them on top of a weed fabric.Yes but you may not get the benefits of Microbes and earthworms crawling up into your bed over time. Of course you could always add earthworms to the bed later yourself.

Did you ever try VEGEGA ones? Don't you have SAND as a base being in FL?

I haven't tried that brand. Our dirt in my location is a bit more clay than sand, likely due to our high water table and proximity to woodlands and creek.

In earthboxes, when emptying, ants are thriving bigtime in the moist environment, so I see ants more in moist environments vs dry. Will have to pay attention to this in the other gardens and see if both fit the ant situation.
