Side note for Carbink that Toby didn't Mention (Spoiler for the end of the Indigo Disk): Not counting the Wild Stellar Tera Pokemon, Carbink is one of only 2 Pokemon seen roaming around the Area Zero Underdepths, the other being Glimmet. It's clear that Carbink are drawn to places of massive/mystical energy.

Didn't see anyone else mention this yet, but the original Dragon does have a tree associated with it. In Black and White if you rank up the Intralink/dream zone multiplayer thing eventually a spiraling black and white tree will grow in the center of the area (so exact middle of Unova)

About Terapagos not being a dragon type, you forgot one specific detail: It’s a turtle. Turtles are reptiles, just like all the other dragons. It isn’t a dragon gameplay wise, but I’m fully willing to assume it’s biology is in line with the other dragon Pokémon.

Well considering that their type is normal unless it's Tera type is activated I would say terapagos one of the closest reflection of Arceus, just from a different angle. Especially with Arceus new plate in legends, after all our dear God isn't just a dragon type but also a normal type. Also love the Z-crystals on the stellar type, maybe terapagos has a hand in them

Since Gen 6, I theorized Rayquaza and Zygarde in a way represent Heaven and Earth. The seal on the cave Groudon and Kyogre were sealed in released green energy as did the Cave of Origin. Green like Zygarde and Rayquaza. Rayquaza's orb in HgSs is called the Jade orb (although, a bit of a weak link as it's called the Green orb in Japanese while Groudon's is called the Crimson orb and Kyogre's is called the Indigo orb)

Here’s a thought with no basis whatsoever, Stonjourner’s ability is Power Spot which lets it radiate an ambiguous aura that bolsters the strength of nearby Pokémon. There’s your extremely loose Eternatus connection right there, big power auras.

With Terapagos and terastal energy now here, I've had something of an idea. A pokemon, functionally, can be seen as five things; its evolutions, its moves, its design/form, its typing, and its stats. Zygarde, Necrozma, Eternatus, and Terapagos, and the phenomenon that come from them/they symbolise, each affect these. Mega Evolution - Zygarde - Evolution Z-Moves - Necrozma - Moves Dynamax/Gigantamax - Eternatus - Form/(Size) Terastallization - Terapagos - Typing And throughout each phenomenon we see a variety of ways they each affect stats, be it totem pokemon or similar, or special forms, dynamaxing affecting HP, and mega evolution does it a bit more directly. Combined, Zygarde, Necrozma, Eternatus, and Terapagos can affect the entirety of a pokemon. It would be pretty terrifying to see a pokemon using Mega Evolution, Z-Moves, Gigantamaxing, and Stellar Tera-type all at once. Sorry for the big comment.

Eternatus actually poisons a bunch of characters in the manga. Some poison residue even attaches to the rusted sword and shield after the fight on top of rose tower.

Actually to add onto it, Stonjourner and the rest of Stonehenge that it's based on are actually rather important. As many believe they are religious sites. They are called Megaliths, and they have folklore relating to them that because they were built way before machines like wheels or lifts were invented, that they were thought to been built by GIANTS. Which is very important to the lore of dynamax since that deals a lot with giants. I got this info that is related to megaliths in a Shadow of the colossus video by Max Derrat. And it goes into the significance of these structures to the lore of those games. And it might also relate to Pokemon if we dig deep enough.

I think there's definitely something there with all the special trees we've been getting lately. Another facet of the tree theory that I haven't heard mentioned is that every single game, starting with Red and Blue, starts with a tree. Or, at least, a person named after a tree. Oak, Birch, Rowan, Juniper, Sycamore, Kukui, Clavell. All are trees. And they're all the first thing you see when you start a new save file, setting you up for your journey. The lore probably starts, way at the beginning, with a tree.

These kinds of videos are incredibly fun because yea, Pokémon only rarely care about its lore (partially by design). As of Indigo Disk we have 3 unrelated alternate universe concepts: the mega/nonmega split, ultra space, and alternate timelines the paradoxes are from, for example. But theorizing is still fun because it’s all about thinking about Pokémon and analyzing it. The stuff about connections to alchemy and religion is not at all the kind of thought the developers put in but it’s still genuinely clever of the people that come up with it, and kinda cool.

Side note connecting kyruem together a bit more: in gen 5 there was an unused 3rd stone, that was likely meant for the cut pokemon gray (and/or the original dragon). The 3rd stone is called "the god stone"... so the original dragon is definitely meant to be part of this whole cosmological dragon-deity tree thing if that's anything to go by.

One thing to note is that Mega Evolution is actually an unnatural perversion of Life energy. Mega stones seemingly didn't exist until the end of the war when AZ fired the Ultimate Weapon, which was powered by the life energy of dozens of pokemon. The excess energy infused stones in space, which later fell on Hoenn(unless Rayquaza ate them first), and then stones around Kalos, all of which became mega stones. That's why the mega evolution dex entries in gen 7 are often horrific, when a pokemon is unable to handle the transformation, they lose control of themselves and go berserk (As seen with Korina's initial attempts to mega evolve her Lucario in the XY anime). Mega Evolution is an unnatural perversion of Life energy in a way that the other energies, Z-power, Dynamax Energy, Terastal Energy, are not. Wild pokemon infused with Z-power over time become totem pokemon, stronger but still themselves, and if infused with a lot at once, they fire off a single Z-move and are back to normal immediately aside from maybe fatigue. Wild pokemon infused with Dynamax energy can still lose control, but that's when they dynamax suddenly, out in the open, and without warning (they probably just don't know how to handle being kaiju-sized all-of-the-sudden). Otherwise they just hangout in their raid dens waiting for trainers to challenge them. Wild Terastal pokemon (that aren't hanging out in raid dens like dynamax) are just there. They hangout seemingly unchanged aside from the glowy aura and act no differently from non-tera counterparts. They're simply stronger than the pokemon around them and terastalize immediately when entering battle. The only confirmed wild pokemon to have mega evolved in game lore is Rayquaza, the first mega evolution in history, powered by the fervent wishes of Hoenn's people that Rayquaza gain the strength to defeat Primal Kyogre and Groudon once and for all.

It's not a perversion, it's what happens when there's too much power in one Pokemon. Ie, Infinite Energy. With no 'human energy' (Key Stones are crystallized people) to balance it out, it can lead to a rampage, but that's not necessarily outside of Arceus' plan. Remember the noble lords were infused with suspicious gold lightning that conveniently helped prepare his time traveler to face Volo, and made them berserk with power in the process. Also I think it was Prof Cozmo who said that Infinity Energy and 'human energy' together (Spiral Power?) create the reaction that causes Mega Evolution. This is why we don't see it in the wild, with only two exceptions. Mewtwo mega evolved on its own, multiple times, on its own power. Now this could be because its creators had a better setup than Giovanni's attempt, but it does imply mastering Infinity Energy is possible. If you're brokenly OP and probably have some human DNA spliced together with Mew. That 'human energy' is allowing Mewtwo to ascend to a higher form, and I'm guessing its massive intellect is what keeps it from rampaging. Also, Mew is the DNA pokemon, the literal building blocks of life. Perhaps life energy wasn't meant to be used naturally on Pokemon, or perhaps Arceus made it manageable in conjunction with 'human energy' for a reason. All the alleged negative side effects (that we never see outside Rotom Dex's entries) seem to be held in check by the feels they have with their trainer. I doubt that it's coincidence that Mega Evolution requires a strong bond.

At first, I had actually been convinced that Glimmet and it’s evolved form Glimmora were some kind of byproduct of Terapagos trying to create a physical body for itself to take over and possibly find a way out of whatever pocket dimension that it was stuck in. I was even thinking that Geeta was some kind of avatar for Terapagos, since her looks take so much from her main Pokémon partner and the reason she puts so much work on the rest of the league and us is because it knows that it’ll be free of Area Zero soon. Even if Terapagos doesn’t actually care to do all of this technical stuff, it still wants someone to be able to watch over Paldea after it’s free from Area Zero and that’s why it implemented the champion level of students for both versions of the academy.

Xerneas could be seen as positive life energy, being something that bestows life. Yveltal reprisents negative life energy or death, being something that takes life. Zygarde keeps the two in check with his Aura Break ability, making him by-proxy, a master of life, death, and their energy.

Azelf, Uxie and Mestrip were created before the universe, they helped creating it with dialga and palkia, according to sinnoh mythos and arceus's plates texts. They are an important essence in the universe, they can control dialga and palkia if needed

Thank you for all of your amazing theories over the years. Your passion for Pokemon got me back into the franchise all those years ago. You inspired to become a theorist and Pokemon Master in my own right. If this really is the last big theory, it's a banger to go out on. PS: This may just be copium from someone who wanted the Creation Trio and mostly Arceus to get Megas/Primals in Legends but I think that if this theory is correct, then it would make more sense for Game Freak to hold off on giving Arceus its full power until it all comes together. I think X and Y has to do more with DNA alteration than anything else because everytime you mega evolve the dna symbol appears, which some pokemon had thier dna altered with the introduction of fairy type. Also nobody seems to mention that the cry of Terapagos sounds similar to the sound emited when you teratalize your Pokémon

Honestly I think Dratini would be a great example of a carbin/minior/etc. counterpart for Dragon Energy as it has crystallized dragon energy in its forehead. It also loses this crystal when it becomes a fully realized dragon in Dragonite. (maybe historically, like in a legends game, it could have been a water type or normal type that gained the dragon tying from a legends-style event?)

If the Sephirot would be used to explain the Lore of Pokemon it could be interesting. What I know is that it represents 10 elements that together make a 11th element that represents "God". Most of the Sephirot info I know comes from Digimon Frontier so here is how they used it to get an idea: there once were 10 ancient digimon warriors that fought against one of the 7 demon lords, the strongest one, Lucemon. Then in the story he revived and they had to reise up once again to fight him. Each warrior represents a different element that would be part of the Sephirot: Fire, Wind, Snow, Thunder, Light, Earth, Wood, Water, Metal and Darkness. Then, in some part of the story, the Ten Legendary Warriors can fuse into one entity to form a new element known as "Heavenly", representing a God (in this case they used Susanoo for the God). So if the Sephirot is wanted to be used in a similar manner to explain the Pokemon Lore, Arceus would be the "Heavenly" 11th element, and there would have to be other 10 element legendary pokemon that are "fragments" or parts of his being. I know the Hebrew tree of life from Prodject moons lobotomy corp and library of ruinia but I also know it exists with it's evil counterpart the tree of death.eavh of the nodes represents a diferant concepts and ideals and map onto the human body and usually are correlated to diferant devine entities like specific individual angels but this is a rusty memory of a interpretation of PM's first game and characters (directly named after the sephirots) which are pms interpretation of the kabalistic tree of life. If these last 4 gens have really been intended to be representations of the elements of Archeus, I am incredibly excited for what they're going to do in gen 10! Maybe they'll wrap up this "saga" in whatever black/white remake/legends/etc game they do next? Maybe legends Arceus was intended to be the link? Maybe gen 10 will have them all come together? No matter what I'm excited! Even if this theory is somehow made of coincidences, gen 10 is still a big milestone for Pokemon and will likely line up with their 30th Anniversary! It's worth noting that Z-Moves, Dynamax/Gigantamax, and Terrastalization all deal with light energy. Z-Moves pull from the ambient Light Energy that Necrozma released into the world, Dynamax/Gigantamax creates a hard-light construct around the pokemon, which is what makes it appear so big or look different, and Terrastal forms are also hard-light energy. Mega Evolution... that's something different. Though it is interesting that Mega Stones, Shining Stones, Wishing Stones, and Terra Orbs all arrived in the pokemon world via metorites. Also just remembered this: But Totem Pokemon are basically just modern day Alpha Pokemon. They're both pokemon infused with an otherworldly light. Totem Pokemon from Necrozma, and Alphas from Arceus. It could even be that Ultra Necrozma is a UB version of Arceus in some regard, like Zygarde and Guzzlord.

What about Rolycoly for Galar's "rock"? As a coal Pokemon I feel like it ties better to a "chemical" theme, given the issues with pollution when talking about coal based technology. It also ties into the fact that Rose summoned Eternatus to harness it for energy, where Eternatus would represent something like futuristic "space energy" and Rolycoly represents past energy technology, like fossil fuels.

While not a Rock type like the others, Runerigus has Eternatus's image plastered on it and it is a stone/monolith of sorts. Might be a better fit than Stonegerna. I still say Necrosma is Reflective and Terapagos is Light. Terapagos creates its own energy while Necrosma has to rely on the power of others to become fully charged.

For the Eternatus question, we learned in the Crown Tundra's dynamax adventures that dynamaxing is in part caused by "Galar particles," heavily implied to have been discovered by Professor Magnolia and a team of scientists (of whom the head researcher on dynamax adventures is implied to be a former Aether employee). These particles are the glowing effect we see around dynamax pokemon (besides Deer Rabbit Goat Calyrex over there)

I haven't seen anyone mention this about Eternatus but Chemical fits perfectly because it came from space and infected the lands with pieces of itself which the exuding energy allows Pokemon to change drastically in size and even to some extent manipulates there DNA drastically further with each growth in the forms of Gigantamax, Eternatus' energy is so wide spread throughout the Galar region even the flora have been affected in the form of the Gigantamax Mushrooms in the Isle of Armour which allows Pokemon to Gigantamax or remove the ability too from any of the eligible Pokemon that can consume them. If that limitation was removed I imagine alot more different Pokemon would also have the capability to Gigantamax.

14:34 Maybe the farther away the legendary gets from creation, the less significant they are to it. They're not so much the creation of their respective elements, but rather the embodiments of them. Almost like breaking down a boulder into smaller and smaller pieces; How much of that original boulder is left in pebbles? The gen 1-3 legends do feel more worldly compared to the others, and regular Pokémon and humans are the smallest fragments.

Good luck with your break man, your work will always be apart of my childhood. Also it's possible that this over arching story was originally being told unconsciously. Afterall alot of myth has similar themes and stories as others. The pokemon as a result not intentionally being connected but the myth and themes making them inheritantly so. Only for the team to look at what they have already done and see how they can build upon that. Rainbow rocket, shaymin's weird name, daiancey's clock tower and Zygarde connections all (to me) clearly intentional. The Archeus connection could be said to be intentional retroactively in a clever move. And the Hydapple speculation i'm convinced is purley accidental. Fun fact, Terastrallizing Terapagos works exactly like Mega Evolution! But only with him. Mega evolving in gen 6 and 7 gave pokemon a 100 base stat boost, and when you Terrastilize Terapagos it goes from 600 BST to 700 BST. Hes the only one to get the boost, not even ogerpon. Im convinced Megas will come back, they just need a more capable console with bigger space to hold the animations for it just like terrastilizing has its own unique animations.

Ok so theory on the game as a whole. So 1. Arceus creates terapalagos and not just one but multiple. These fly thru space and support creation of the universe as a whole. 2. At some point terapalagos is hunted down to a mere handful and escape by forming a comet like meteor that land on Paldea creating area zero. 3. Time passes. And the king of paldea goes broke and dies trying to find what he saw land at the crater. 4. Before his death his currupt ways spawned the first evolution of hydraple. Thus creating a form of curse on the king when he accepted the 4 artifacts from the trader and created the 4 evil sudo legends. 5. The people seal off the 4 evils, while in kitakami the ogre defeats the last 3 of the 7 evils unleashed by one of the invader like Pokémon hunting the turtle. 6. The war happens, Kato’s end’s up getting a sample of terapalagos but due to the passing of the Pokémon itself the gem’s energy is then crystallized into the crystals outside of kalos where mega evolutions are created. ( boosts in form and ability’s to push further) 7.time passes. Events with profesor happen as game tells us. 8.the event at the lake happens creating the loop. This sending an energy reading out to space. 9.Events in kitakami take place waking up the invader peacharunt and the doc takes place. 10. The invaders become aware of terapalagos. And now come and try and capture the last remnant of his power. This supported by deoxy’s being in game but not catachable. (Deoxys would have been like venom from the marvel comics, a spy looking for the source of energy). 11. Events in sword and shield crown thundra happen at a similar time pace where the ultra beasts start appearing again due to the energies emitted by the invader general eternatus. 12. 4th dlc maybe that could go into the mystery of space Pokémon and why Pokémon like deoxy’s or eternatus, or maybe even a unknow Pokémon intel’s might be hunting down the last terapalagos. Notes: think about how the crater was formed. How terapalagos is male, and how he is clearly hiding from something. The ultra beast exist outside of time and space, so naturally if terapalagos was maybe once floating thru space (Stephen king reference) and landed on earth to hide from the Pokémon version of IT (peacharunt) Or some outside force, crashes into paldea. Starts the great Pokémon war over the fine reasorce, and due to the distinct energy signature stems things like MEGA evolutions or master balls. Think how in his yo in the past people were terrified of Pokémon and nothing was really known about them. They could have been regular animals and bugs that evolved and transformed into Pokémon as a whole from this impact and source of cosmic/stellar energy giving birth to types and elements within Pokémon. And Pokémon like mew started appearing first due to the concentrated amount of terradtal energy that was available for them to absorb. Pokémon like celebi even took some features from this all giving turtle. And Pokémon like ho-oh and Lucia where given abilities that could affect the natural environment or Pokémon. Think on how arceus and terapalagos are both normal exclusive legendary and the only two in the entire Dex that have so far affected/altered/influenced the main characters own timeline. The amount of people who don't understand Giratina is kind of astounding. It's in the name of the place you find it in, the distortion world. The world plays with GRAVITY, having platforms everywhere that have their own GRAVITY. You know what distorts Time and Space?---- GRAVITY. Giratina is the Master of Distortion, AKA GRAVITY. okay so arceus creates the pokemon world. and then it creates the original dragon, not as a part of the creation deities, but as a generator. the original dragon represented energy, pure raw energy- draconic energy- and was probably crystalline in some way since we know from regidrago's dex entry that dragon energy was once crystallized. it eventually split apart into reshiram, the fire type with a flame-spitting jet engine on its tail representing heat energy; and zekrom, electric type, with a lightning-spouting dynamo on its tail, representing electrical energy. and when fused, heat and electricity become (team) plasma. the third, the shell left behind by this splitting, is the ice type kyurem, representing a void absent of energy. absolute zero, the temperature at which particles are so devoid of energy they cease all motion. side note, while reshiram and zekrom have generators in their tails, kyurem's wings are plugs like the prongs you'd stick into a wall outlet. with the original dragon acting as an energy source the creation trio were made with the dragon type, as were the 4 pieces arceus split its power into, its 4 ethers. when the original dragon split apart it didn't split evenly. kyurem isn't the complete shell left over, it lost other fragments of crystallized dragon energy. fragments that got picked up by regigigas and used in the building of a new titan, regidrago

There's a variation of that I've been hearing in various places over the years that I believe holds true with the entire Pokemon Cosmology this theory looks at. "Once is happenstance. It's a very cool video. In fact, I myself have long thought, at least, about the connection of the Original Dragon with the Trio of Creation, and the connection of Zygarde, Eternatus and Necrozma, as well as rumors about the connection of Terapagos. This theory may have flaws or it may turn out to be false, but I still really like it. And yes, have a nice holiday, Toby. If you ever return to Pokemon in the future, then I hope you will have the same good and cool ideas for theories (because by that time, I think, there will already be enough content). I remember reading many years ago a theory about the OD possibly being a 4th member of the Creation trio.
