Just love all your birds, especially the gouldians For I have gouldians new at this, have lots of different colors by luck I guess. Have 4 babies in nest , bad thing in this California heat. Have lots of males . Seems like I get more males than females. You have such good info. Keep up the good work. I am also having trouble sexing the yellow backs. Good luck with your birds

Just got my 1st pair of Lady Gouldian Finches this year in May at a bird expo in Phoenix. The male is RH,PB,GB and the female is BH YTB,PB,GB. I've Been watching your videos since then. My pair has two, 1 week old babies in the nest. Hopefully 🤞 they'll continue raising them, because tonight is the 1st time both parents decided to sleep outside the nest since the babies hatched. I also have 3 juvenile Bourke Parakeets, 1 is a normal male, the other is a rosy male (i think), and a pink eye rosy female she has greyish yellow instead of black on the tips of her wings, don't remember what the mutation is called . Can't wait until I can breed the Bourkes next year!

That’s awesome, hopefully your Gould chicks are doing well. The red eyed bourke sounds like a fallow mutation.

i have just purchased 4 dilute gouldians. they will probably be here next week. i used to breed these birds many years ago and decided to get some more. your videos are helping me get caught up on things that i need to know. thank you so much for your information. this is a really good schooling for me. i am not sure what colors i will get, but should be interesting and mostly exciting

I got hold of 2 6ft long cages handmade.I have currently 5 males adult,7 babies weaned seperated of course onlt 2 adult females as of now.What would you suggest as far as keeping them seperate.Right now i have my males seperate from the only female and the babies by themselves oh and the other female is currently sitting on 5 eggs.

How old does a female canary need to be before I can breed from it?

One year old or as soon as she is looking for nesting materials usually around 9 months. Hope that helps

What do you feed them Gouldians in preparation for the breeding season ? and particular vitamins ? supplements ?

Great question. On top of the fresh egg food. I supply some vita dry egg food mix which is pre-mixed with other added vitamins and supplements. I will also start to give some mullet spray for them to eat. I progressively give more of this through out the weeks to stimulate spring and more foods available for the birds to eat and raise their young.

one more question: I have had my first pair in March and they are done with their molts. They have been together in the same cage all this time, do I have to separate them for some time before they breed ??! They get along fine in the same cage !!

Have you added a nest box with some nesting material? This may stimulate them to breed.

I have yes. He did have one a few years ago but she passed away. He is 17 years old so not sure if he would be fertile or not.

My Gouldians are the most beautiful but frustrating birds I've ever kept. Either prolific breeders or persistent chick tossers. I never know what sort of season they have in store for me !!!.

I have just started breeding Gouldian finch's.. I have a pair of red headed, purple breast green backs.. so far as of today she has laid 5 eggs .. looking forward in watching your videos to help me with this .. great video.. thanks for your help

The hen has laid at least 6 eggs but I can't see down into the wicker nest ... If she was to lay up to the 8 .. that would have been today. How long should I wait for her to be sitting on the nest before I let the society finches take over? So far she isn't sitting on the nest at all

@@kevinmagee2893if your societies are already sitting on dummy eggs and you’re worried that the gouldian hen is not sitting you can transfer the eggs over to your societies.
