I have them as well here in Germany / Europe - swarms of them during winter times and local birds before and after breeding time. I have more males though while you have more females. My biggest swarm was way more than a hundred birds for several days and I can tell you: Though they eat the cheap sunflower seeds such a huge crowd eats 3 pounds and more per day and become expensive guests very fast! Love your footage!

First year having Siskins. My Chickadees may have been run off by them? We have three collard pigeons this year. So many birds come now, four years in. I faced my one sided feeder toward my house under my deck. My 3 little dogs and I sit in bed and watch them bathe and eat. God puts on the best shows🙏🙌

Pine Siskins can be quite active and sometimes competitive at feeders. Chickadees are resilient and might come back once the activity calms down a bit. You could try placing an additional feeder with different food to attract the Chickadees specifically.

Beautiful footage!! Thank you so much for sharing! Is there a juvenile pine siskin at 1:45? I noticed that recently fledged House Finches also tend to have little tufts of feathers on top of their heads. I never had the pleasure of seeing a Pine Siskin at my bird feeder. The only finches I get are House Finches; they are so sweet and chatty :-)

I had a few sneak in with the dozens of Purple Finches during the irruption last year, and I was very excited because it was the first time I had seen Pine Siskins in my home County (another tick on the ol' County list!) No finches at all this year, it's very unusual that I haven't even seen at least a few Goldfinches by February!

Haven't seen them in a few years but they come around in the winter, yes they are aggressive. They will take the feeders over and other birds seem afraid of them.

I've seen them at my place at least two times. And they came solo, not in a group. I was careful to ID them with my 40X zoom camera, so I'm pretty sure I know what it was these. It could be easy to think it is a goldfinch in the colder months (when goldfinches aren't bright) if you aren't zoomed in on them. One way they are so different is how friendly they can be. I've seen pine siskins in a big group eating from someone's hands. Goldfinches seem to be way way shyer, near cardinal level shy. Seem to be at the opposite side of the spectrum in that area.

A flock of Pine Siskins has taken over my finch feeders for the past week. Some Common Redpolls also but they mostly pick-up what drops to the ground. The Siskins are very aggressive. The larger male House Finches will stand up to them but the American Goldfinches barely get a look in. I switched to a mix of fine sunflower chips and Nyjer seed served in tube feeders this winter because the Goldfinches were showing little interest in Nyjer alone. The Siskins are not so picky and readily eat the discarded Nyjer seed accumulating in the feeder spill trays. I've just put out a mesh feeder with Nyjer only to see if it can help to lure some of the Siskins away from the tube feeders.

Yeah, I've had flocks of 30+ before. They can empty a full feeder in 1 or 2 hours. Most of it ends up on the ground though.

I discovered pine siskins a couple of years ago. At first thought they were goldfinch! They were all together! Cool! But wish someone would tell me how to get rid of these MESSY starlings!!! They flock, eat all the food and leave an awful mess behind on the deck and in the heated water bowl!!!! 😤 Any tips? It's so cold here in Michigan I hate to stop putting out food right now. 🙁
