This was truly amazing. Shawn is really a good student. He knows how to read his bird and how to prioritise in regards to what he wants to achieve and what the bird is giving him. And the update video at the end was just awesome! *-* Looking forward to the other students of this masterclass!

I love how Shawn is respecting his bird while moving her forward, with direction and help. I have had the privilege of adopting children in the building of my family and one of those little people was a toddler who had been hurt. It took many many years in the building of that little ones trust. We had constant tiny wins. We know this bird is as smart as a 3 year old child so it's a fair comparison IMO. It is SO worth is Shawn, keep going. You are the person she feels most comfortable with and you will get there with sweet Ruby. Very endearing video post. Great job all!!!

Way to go Shawn, Ruby loves you so much and the more time she spends the more she will learn what you want her to do. I can tell that she is a smart (and beautiful) Grey and I could see the she was getting almost as much satisfaction seeing you smile as the treat. Almost being the important word, "I like to see you smile Dad, but smile and give me a treat is better for me. That way I am super sure I am doing well 😊." Dave and Jamie, thanks for doing these classes, I was so excited when I saw Shawn's video I yelled "YES, good girl Ruby". My better half came running upstairs thinking something was wrong, lol🤭. I so respect the work that both of you do helping people with these birds. These birds live so long and they are not "dogs." I know people who have had them and ended up giving them to sanctuaries when they could not handle them. So sad for the birds. What these people said about the experience afterward was just terrible. However, without training I've seen videos on KZbin that I could not live with normal birdie behavior of the bigger birds are nothing like yours. Training is SOOOOOOOOOO important. Ruby did so well !! She's beautiful and it's good to see how committed Shawn is to her and vice versa. Thank you for posting your classes here for people to see, far too many people don't realise just how much work and commitment is involved in owning parrots. I've had pet parakeets since I was around 6 or 7, I come from a family of bird lovers (lots of family members have aviary's). I had an African grey but he died suddenly just before his 3rd birthday which broke my heart of course, but I took in a yellow crowned Amazon called Pippy around 8 years ago. I've known Pippy for many years as he belonged to a neighbour of my parents, but they had become bored with him and he'd started to scream a lot!! I have to say I'm incredibly lucky, I'm Pippy' s 4th owner but this is definitely his forever home, and he wasn't well treated by at least two of his previous owners but he's great. We have an incredible bond and even though he's had a rough life,he's around 25 to 30 years old, he's gentle and very well behaved. Pippy is a big commitment, but he's worth it. A big thank you for all your hard work and making people more aware of what's involved. Best wishes from the UK, Rae x

Srry. Just brought home a pinapple colored gcc, "Jake" he is now 6 months old and thriving, he just learned potty training , it took bout a month to teach him, he loves his world and he means as much to us as any family member, cuz he is our family "forever" , bout 31 yrs. Ago i had a goffin cockatoo, he was abused before i had got him but with trust, and lots love , he was wonderful! @@carolhartley4448 your comment didn't bore me at all, I'm passionate about parrots and how people treat them. I think it's because they are so intelligent and having one is like having a child, they need a lot of attention and care. My Amazon Pippy is a big commitment but I have to say I wouldn't be here without him. I've had a really rough time in the last 3 years and have 3 chronic health conditions and Pippy has been my constant companion, he is a very important member of the family. Pippy and all parrots need attention and love, the bond that you form with them is a very strong one and they also need that as well. It breaks my heart to hear how some parrots are treated, people need to be educated about them before they buy or adopt and especially if they adopt because it can be so much harder for them to trust you.
