Helping hyacinth Macaws with their pin feathers (EXTREMELY SATISFYING)

These are the Hyacinths at tropical birdland - they are incredibly playful but on this particular day… extremely relaxed! Which meant it was the perfect time to help them pop some itchy pin feathers on their heads.
I was mostly around Neville, but I did help a couple of others.
Birdland is a sanctuary for surrendered pet birds that are used to human contact - they also run conservation programmes to try and prevent rare breeds from going extinct.

You can tell how much they're loving the grooming/preening session(s). And that "More Please" posture proves it.

This is what humans are for- to be caretakers to other animals who aren’t as capable/advanced as we are. We’ve been given so much & it’s to share with other creatures. Most of us are just too self absorbed/greedy 😪💔 thank you for your kindness to the birds xx

My favorite past time, when I had my U2 before she flew over the bridge, was to do pinnies. I am seriously thinking about getting a smaller too soon, just don't tell my husband lol.
