Biréli Lagrène is a French guitarist and bassist. He came to prominence in the 1980s for his Django Reinhardt-influenced style on the guitar, as well as for being a jazz fusion virtuoso on the electric guitar. He often performs within the swing, jazz fusion and post-bop mediums.

I was primarily a bass player, when I began playing music many years ago, but somehow most bass solos leave me cold. Yet I liked this! Not too flashy, but hardly rote, both groovy and engagingly melodic! Is there a little chorus in the signal chain? Does anyone else hear it? If it’s there it’s subtle but it makes all the difference … great tone!!

Plus jeune il faisait même des solos de contrebasse. Pour moi, en dehors du fait qu'il ait été le guitariste de Jaco Pastorius, il n'en demeure pas moins son élève. Son jeu en est fortement inspiré.

J'avais arrêté la guitare à cause de lui.... Je vais donc arrêter la basse également.. Je vais prendre un instrument bien pourri pour bien le punir... Genre le hautbois ou la flûte à bec, il sera bien attrapé !!

Le hautbois et la flûte à bec ne sont pas des instruments "pourris" et possèdent nombre virtuoses qui vous inciteront en à abandonner l'usage également.🙃
