Oh my God. I transcribed him playing Body and Soul years ago, because I love his playing so much, but this is just insane. ❤🤯

Yes Bireli is exceptional in his playing. And don't forget he is also a master in bassguitar (his teacher was Jaco Pastorius) And he can play violin, double bass and more. He could already play very well at 13 years of age. He learnt by ear and by looking, copyng. When he was 18, he was my friend and he asked me what I listened to, I replied George Benson, you should do that too. And he did, he moved to America and Jaco became his teacher there. So now he can add what he learnt by ear with music theory, and therefore he became the absolute master that he is today. Knowing so much already about different kinds of instruments also helps to grow. I lost touch with him after he moved to America, but I still love my friend.

Just saw him tonight at a Django 3-day birthday festival. He has the most amazing feel and since of natural exploration. Such a beautiful, fun, and powerfully elegant show.
