No one thrills in this role like Nilsson. Who gives a fig if the coloatura is not given its full due. Really. The coloratura is astonishing, I think.

I can’t say if the orchestra was pre-recorded (although my guess is it’s not), but she is definitely singing live here :)

sloppy coloratura but for such a massive voice-very impressive attempt. Every rendition of this aria makes you understand how impressive that 1953 Callas live recording is.

a real staged performance by the queen of glacial terror might have have been more compelling. her heart isn't really in this. she's too detached here, maybe because it's just a televised program showcasing a few select arias.
