My mother used to sing this to me as a child. I've moved across the world and barely get to talk with her anymore and she suffered vocal chord paralysis a couple years ago and it's difficult for her to talk for long periods of time or sing at all. Sometimes when I'm feeling sentimental and missing her, I think back to when she sang this to me. I would have asked her to record herself singing it for me but obviously she can't. No other version I've found comes close to the way she sang it - this version is pretty much spot on and has washed such a wave of nostalgia over me. Thank you for sharing!

+iha asc Yes very cool!
@lazur18 жыл бұрын
+iha asc From imdb / Erland Van Lidth / trivia: "His actual voice wasn't used for the song, "Down in the Valley" in the film. Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike in 1980, he wasn't able to record the song himself, so they used the pre-recorded track to which he had sung the song during the filming in the final print of the movie." Some of this is confused, even contradictory. Translation: EVL was singing at the filming, not on-mic, but along with a track that included the track's original vocal, to get a precise lip-sych. "His actual voice wasn't used...he wasn't able to record the song himself." The singer on the track, uncredited on the film: Dorian Holley, best known as a backup singer for Michael Jackson in 1987, but an unknown 24year-old when the film was made. (EVL was a bass-baritone, this performance is in the tenor, (Holley's), range.)
