I grew up on Willits Hill. I spent so much time in the library. I attended Baldwin elementary until the day it closed. Yes I am that old. We left Birmingham in 1975 and I have always missed it, but I could not live in a bustling town like that any more. I do love watching these videos tho.

Born and raised in B'ham. Lived there from 1966 to 1990. My house was built in 1907 and was so old that it had a dirt basement until the 1950's. Was a great experience to grow up in B'ham. I liked it so much but the size of the lots for the cost made me decide to not buy my house there. I moved to the B'ham school district of Southfield. I am only a two mile walk to uptown B'ham which only adds about fifteen minutes to what my normal walk used to be. Best part of making the move out of the city to Southfield was that my kids where able to go the same schools I went to and I was able to buy a much larger house and lot to enjoy. My childhood home was raised in 2021 and turned into a bigfoot house. Crazy that my mom and dad purchased the house in 1964 for $16,000 and It just sold as a bigfoot house for $750,000.

@jm-xg7lm5 ай бұрын
What do love about being in Michigan vs Houston, since your move?
@Therealsarahtonin_5 ай бұрын
@@jm-xg7lm Yes, I am born and raised in Houston, Texas, from the south side. It’s not the best area, so I decided to move to Birmingham, Michigan, for a relationship and work. I lived in Birmingham for a year and a half on Adams Road, zip code 48009. It was very beautiful, with all four seasons and a very walkable city. If you wanted to go to another township, it was only a 10 to 15-minute drive, and then you'd be in another city. In Texas, everything takes nearly an hour to get to, which is very inconvenient. You definitely need a car more in Houston than in Birmingham. Birmingham is quiet, not very busy, and has a luxurious, suburban feel. The people are decent and nice, and the community is quite diverse, with many White and Arabian residents. It’s a bit pricey, but if you’re making money, that shouldn’t be a problem. My apartment was across the street from downtown Birmingham, which was beautiful. They have everything there, including Kroger, but it can be a little expensive. HAHA I give Birmingham a 10 for walkability. I felt so safe and lost a lot of weight from walking because I didn’t need to drive much. Their parks are very accessible, and there is a lot of nature in Michigan. In Houston, if we want to go tubing, we have to drive three hours to Austin, or if we want to go to the beach from the northwest side, it’s about an hour to Galveston. In Birmingham, tubing is just a 10 to 15-minute drive away. They have a lot of water and nature, and it’s very walkable with friendly people. I loved the all four seasons weather in Birmingham. It wasn’t crazy hot, and experiencing all four seasons was very fun. I no longer live in Birmingham, but if I could, I would move back in a heartbeat. Birmingham was very nice, and I could enjoy a luxurious night out there. I think you’ll love it out there.
@Therealsarahtonin_5 ай бұрын
@@jm-xg7lm Additionally, Birmingham is very dog-friendly, with many people walking their dogs and jogging. The area is very commutable and accessible. You can ride your bike safely, and the nature is amazing. If I could go back to Birmingham, I would in a heartbeat. The only challenge is driving in the snow because when it snows in Michigan, it really snows. But if you can master that, it’s perfectly fine. Birmingham was very nice, with decent people. I give them 10s across the board.

Yeah, and at 12:53 minutes in, you forgot to mention the unbelievable, horribly shitty-weather there. A completely clear - no clouds day in B-Ham, (or anywhere in the area), is as rare as finding the Hope diamond in your backyard, but yeah, I get it...you're trying to sell real estate in a crappy location, (weather wise), my hat's off to you. I guess that being born and raised in the general area for 23 years, I got wise, (luckily), and moved to South Carolina where 90% of day's are mostly sunny. winter, spring, summer and fall. Oh? and when you're scraping ice off your windshield's in March...tell me I'm wrong.

I've tried multi-websites IN Omena, Northport, Suttons Bay, etc. and am trying to trying to find a certain location IN Omena which has been there since, (and I'm guessing ), the late 1940's until today. It was originally owned by a Walter Gardner, (as far as I know), who was the President of the R.L. Polk & Company in Detroit, MI. My Dad worked for him and he, (Walt and Bee his wife), would graciously have us to spend the day on many occasions, (God rest their souls). My question is brief. Do you or anybody you know have any info. if the Gardner's grandchildren STILL have the place and if not...well whatever, but anything comes to mind, it'll be greatly appreciated.

I can give you that info. The diversity in Birmingham, MI is very little with the majority population being white (about 92.3%). 3% of the population are African-American, 2.5% are Asian, 2.5% are Latino. That being said, if you can get even a slice of real estate there, you have automatically entered the "I made it" status. Birmingham has the best location ever in any place in Detroit. It's surrounded by other wealthy cities and is within 10-15 mins from the best malls, hotels, restaurants, spas, etc.
