Those of you accusing her of causing division may want to search your hearts and ask yourselves why you feel that way. She has presented history, facts, truth, names & dates. It is what it is. Get off the high horse of white supremacy and admit it. The truth shall set you free. ✌🏽

@UFCNUTTA Anyone who've done an ounce of research into this topic will realize that Jacqueline Battalora is extremely accurate in this video. White supremacy is just a method of control, stemming from the warfare tactic of "Divide and Conquer". I suggest you go read "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu if you genuinely care about freeing yourself from this matrix.

She may not "causing", but definitely, add more oil into it. You dont need to be scientist to recognise that her " facts, truth, names & dates" *is selected and presented in certain way and context* , to create this effect - I can make the same biased "research" and show certain race of people as such, uh...Ten years ago I used to watch movies with Will Smith (I, Robot, Hencoc) and Densel Washington (Book of Eli), but because of all this anti-caucasian propaganda in schools, academia and entertainment - not any more ...

@@empireofthechangedayandnight you mean the way the white man did with the black & Indian race. Although, they lied and conveniently left out facts and true history. Fortunately, the deeper the archaeologists, historians, scientists etc., dig the blacker the history becomes. They can't hide it forever. Things done in the dark are coming to light. It is what it it. It's in God's hands. 🙌🏽👏🏽✊🏽👊🏿🤷🏾‍♀️

@@ZalMoxisI’m genuinely curious, why are you so resistant to the possibility that systemic racism is one of the largest factors in the impoverishment of modern day black people? Is it because you don’t like the idea of acknowledging that the circumstances of individuals are almost wholly determined by factors that are outside of the control of the individual, which goes against the idea that america is a completely perfect meritocracy where the idea of someone who genuinely works hard and puts in the effort not becoming successful is considered IMPOSSIBLE? Or is it because you feel like accepting the idea that systemic discrimination is the primary cause of black impoverishment, is the same thing as accepting to be guilty for being white? I’m just curious because this literally isn’t a topic that is possible for you to argue from a factual standpoint, if we accept facts such as “race based slavery existed” or “white people are not genetically superior to black people” or “red lining, loan discrimination and racially motivated gerrymandering are 3 out of dozens of examples of types of discrimination that black Americans faced on a national scale for DECADES AFTER THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT MADE IT ILLEGAL” than it’s not really possible to argue against the idea that systemic discrimination has had an impact on the economic development of black americans, it’s just a question of how severe of an impact it has had, in which case I suppose you could actually be smug enough to look at me with a straight face and tell me that black impoverishment in the modern day is primarily the result of RAP MUSIC and CULTURE rather than black people being denied loans for homes and businesses despite having identical credit to whites of the same income levels, up until the mid 1990s. I’m sorry but the American fairytale of our country being the greatest meritocracy on the planet is just that…a fairytale, our country ranks 27th! out of 82, basically every single other first world nation on the planet gives their citizens better equality of opportunity (I know you righties are fucking obsessed with that term despite not knowing what it means) and economic mobility. It genuinely bothers me that so many people like you got to die while smugly believing they were just so much more intelligent than those stupid libs who believe in things like “facts” and “academic consensus” and “The Socratic and scientific method’s”, but I take solace in the fact that we seem to have reached a point where people like you will have no choice but to sit back and be politically outnumbered and therefore politically forced into watching the world become a much better, happy, tolerant and equal place, and eventually the cognitive dissonance that exists inside of your head as a result of all the propaganda you’ve no doubt consume, will fight against the obvious improvements to society that you won’t be able to just pretend aren’t real.

Excellent! Thank you. So different from what we teach our kids in school (and what we were taught) in order to program them (and us) to support the status quo consisting of American institutional racism and sexism. I can also say that this presentation pushed those racist and sexist buttons for lots of white, male Americans. I could wish that they would pay more attention to the "divide and conquer" strategy of the Big Moneyboys, and keep in mind that solidarity with the 99% is the best way to achieve our natural rights that have been taken from us by our ruling class. And that sharing power increases the power for both those who are shared with and for those who do the sharing of their power. That is the lesson of Bacon's Rebellion.

I love this work by Dr. Battalora, and I am so grateful for sharing it in public lectures and KZbin, not simply in the academic class room. So, much that empowers regular people from the Ivory Tower is never really shared with the general public. I don't know if she has been "forced," but I think it is sad, that she is not also addressing the reality that most "Black" people in North America are the descendants of autochthonous Americans here before the late 15th century explorations of Europe. There is as much, or more evidence for this fact, as she shares for the invention of "White" people. It is time to tell the whole truth, if we really hope to stop the divide and conquer tactics of the economic elites. Not only are most "Blacks" in America, as native as "Native" Americans, White in law, was never simply about skin color, and there is plenty of evidence for that as well. All three of these issues need to be made more public, and addressed at the same time, or the divide and conquer will persist, because people's perceptions of themselves and history will remain totally skewed with divide and conquer biases still in effect.

What she really shows is what every academic (specifically sociologist, anthropologist and others have been known.) that race is a socio-political construct. Not to mention, her scholarship builds on the late and great Theodore W. Allen too, and his scholarship on this matter is very impeccable. If you have not read Jacqueline's or Mr. Allen's books then you better. You'll have a better understanding of this subject.

Nope...CRT stems from marxist critical theory! The problem is not racial correction; that's a honorably great thing if done right; it's in not using a "math book" to try to understand "subject, verb, agreement"...

Wonderful detail! Didn’t the advent of “black” come about here as well though? That almost seems to be avoided, and I can sort of see why... but just like there was no sudden genetic mutation of fairer skin races into one “white” race, there are too many different beautiful races/cultures to lump into a singular “black” one. Peace to everyone here that is hip to this massively important bit of history! If only everyone was educated on it. (Great schools here in the USA lol... “volksschulen: breeding factory workers and soldiers” 🙄)

@@andreah8509 I don’t call “it” that… that’s the purpose of the quotes. Also, I think you’ve missed the whole point here. As best we know, the earliest humans had no colour -at least, not like people tend to think of it today. Scientists tend to agree that humans started with very pale skin -like chimpanzees. But the real colour came from where each group settled in relation to the equator due to the amount of sunlight they were exposed to generation to generation. They could be totally wrong though, and you could be right! And that would be totally fine. Intelligent people really don’t keep score of that kind of thing. There are positive people and negative people and complexion has nothing to do with it. When we as brothers and sisters see one group being mistreated just because of their appearance or skin colour, it’s all of our duty to respond to it. Unfortunately, we’ve done an extremely shitty job of that as a whole.

She failed to mention that many Europeans, that came from Europe, were NOT white, but black, which would also explain why so many married British women. Also, she called blacks, at that time, African. However, primary source books, written at that time period, give NO mention of Africa, ONLY Natives and Europeans. At that time the terms Black and White were not commonly used to describe people. So, you would have to research the actual records, that give the physical description of these people.

She's saying the first appearance of the word "white" came in 1681in antimiscegenation law. According to another source, the term "white" came much earlier and in England: "The Jacobean playwright Thomas Middleton invented the concept of “white people” on October 29, 1613, the date his play The Triumphs of Truth was first performed. The phrase was first uttered by the character of an African king who looks out upon an English audience and declares: “I see amazement set upon the faces/Of these white people, wond’rings and strange gazes.” As far as I, and others, have been able to tell, Middleton’s play is the earliest printed example of a European author referring to fellow Europeans as “white people”. A year later, the English commoner John Rolfe of Jamestown in Virginia took as his bride an Algonquin princess named Matoaka, whom we call Pocahontas. The literary critic Christopher Hodgkins reports that King James I was “at first perturbed when he learned of the marriage”. But this was not out of fear of miscegenation: James’s reluctance, Hodgkins explained, was because “Rolfe, a commoner, had without his sovereign’s permission wed the daughter of a foreign prince”. King James was not worried about the pollution of Rolfe’s line; he was worried about the pollution of Matoaka’s." from "The reality of race: The term ‘white people’ was invented by a playwright in 1613" by Ed Simon scroll.in/article/850404/the-reality-of-race-the-term-white-people-was-invented-by-a-playwright-in-1613

And, Michael, the vague (and not-so-vague) awareness that many white Americans have of how they are privileged (no matter how poor they are) over non-whites is one they don't want to openly acknowledge to themselves, nor in society because they couldn't deal with the pain knowing that, no matter how bad their lives might be in the moment, they have an easier time turning things around because institutional and societal racism than a non-white person could. That gnaws and eats at many white people but to admit it would prove monumentally hurtful. No one wants to think of themselves as racially-privileged and benefiting from that kind of a society.

It's not the burden of the individual to prove doubters wrong. It is the responsibility of doubters to prove this wrong. If you can't you're just name calling for the sake of name calling and actually not providing any solid proof that this isn't the case. Also, making someone have to convince you when it's your job to do the research yourself and come to your own conclusions is a another form of logical fallacy because the person can bring you exactly all the proof and all you have to do is say "oh well I don't believe that" and in your limited mind you believe it's not true based on, you not liking what you hear. Just like how we don't accuse smart women of witchcraft or a person with seizure disorder as being possessed by the devil because time passed and science advanced and we figured out what illnesses were, I know it's scary living in the future with all this access to information! But if you research yourself, you can't think that you're lying to yourself. Also, maybe we should listen to the professionals? Something that this country hasn't done in many many years.

I agree with her message, but there *was* mention of a white race before the 1680s. I believe it was a book funded by the Portuguese monarchy in the 15th century that classified Africans as a separate race.. this was done to justify the slave trade. This ideology came from the aristocracy in a top down manner; it took hundreds of years for common people to start identifying themselves as belonging to a racial group. White identity didn't catch on in popular culture in America until after Bacon's Rebellion. Even then, the English still viewed the Irish as an inferior "race" despite their "white" skin; their idea of race would have been completely foreign to us.. This just further reflects how contrived "race" is.. it's an ideology that has led to the deaths of billions of people and it's definitions change arbitrary based on the politics of the day.
@treyweeeee
@treyweeeee Жыл бұрын
@@waynetables6414 yeah, like, at least fundamentally when you think about it the terminology of white being race makes no sense but then at the same time because such a group was created and were given privileges others didn't get and it's pretty much stayed in that favor for as long as it's been an idea which has been roughly around that amount of time, it has done a tremendous amount of damage along with unfathomable amount of deaths. If I think about that for too long I get really sad because I can't imagine what the world would look like today if we all just were able to coexist and didn't have certain people with war genes. But I'm also not even just thinking or talking about what it's done here in the US but also all around the world it changed people's perception of what was beautiful and what was in and I think that that's what hurts me the most is that people find themselves ugly if they are of a darker complexion and some people in some places all around the world bleach their skin literally to get a fair complexion for a multitude of reasons. Some even to just be treated better. But, I genuinely hope that not only can we address and celebrate and make appropriate reparations for all of the tribes of individuals out in the world but I really hope that we can separate ourselves with the idea of race and just celebrate where we Are in life physically mentally and emotionally. But, there's a great deal of healing that needs to go on and a genuinely hope that people are up to and receptive of learning and growing.
