praying for you. Here in America you have to stay at minimum 24hrs after birth and 48 minimum if possible infection. I'm so grateful you are well and the kids as well. I think your instincts when labor started were spot on. you shouldn't have to feel your life at risk while having a child when you have children and a husband at home. Things can decline so quickly. So glad you are better and Curtis helped. A lot of women push through and die ignoring symptoms because medical personal tell them it's normal to feel off. Well its not normal when it's your 5th baby and you know when something isn't right.
@OrdinaryEnglishMum
@OrdinaryEnglishMum Жыл бұрын
Oh wow I didn't know you had to stay for a minimum, you can always leave quite quickly here if they think all is OK. Yes you're soo right, they did tell me I was OK a few times which makes me worry for other women or men that get the same illness and won't push for more help as it could be fatal. To be honest if it wasn't for Curtis and my mum I wouldn't have pushed for more help I do try and keep going. Xx

Am quite shocked at your care or lack of care, being discharged a few hours after giving birth without food. I was refused an MRI scan for a suspected fractured ankle because I couldn't wear a mask in the scanner and not one of the 3 attending to you was wearing one. Am hardly surprise d you ended up with sepsis. You are an amazing woman, so strong.
@OrdinaryEnglishMum
@OrdinaryEnglishMum Жыл бұрын
To be honest Pat I never thought about that but you are right. They told me my membranes had ruptured too and called them ragged? And said to be careful for any signs of something being wrong. As much as I am grateful for their care they even let me go for a shower alone straight after and I felt sooo faint. I remember with Roo not being allowed to go in a bathroom locked incase anything bad happened but they let me this time. Obviously it's my choice I'm an adult but I guess a woman who has just given birth does need some more care and attention. I hardly got checked on at all. They seem so busy all the time. Xxx
@patsmith8035
@patsmith8035 Жыл бұрын
@@OrdinaryEnglishMum what shocks me is how quickly you were sent home. I know you have a supportive husband but you Chavez birth at night so had no sleep. You have 4 other children at home, You should have been put on the postnatal ward for at least 6 hours to get some sleep and to make sure you were ok and fully recovered, I am quite shocked to be honest. Hope you are continuing to recover
@patsmith8035
@patsmith8035 Жыл бұрын
@@OrdinaryEnglishMum they should have kept you in at least for a few hours, given you some food and allowed you to get some sleep. You had laboured during the night and not had any sleep. With ruptured membranes they should have observed you. I was only a Nursery Nurse and Special Needs Teaching Assistant during my working life but still can see your care appeared woefully inadequate. Busy or not they had a duty of care to you.
@patsmith8035
@patsmith8035 Жыл бұрын
You were however so lucky to have your wonderful husband, and you were so calm, it is just the care, it seems seriously lacking especially after having to drive for an hour to get to a hospital. I never cease to be amazed at the lack of care in our NHS
@OrdinaryEnglishMum
@OrdinaryEnglishMum Жыл бұрын
@@patsmith8035 I know what you mean although I do always like to get home because I feel like we pointlessly wait around. Yeah we didn't go onto a ward we stayed in our birthing room until we went home. My midwife told me they like to give the injection for your placenta to come out instead of it coming out naturally to get it all over with faster because they're busy. I know they aren't as good as they were, it's a shame it does scare me for if I was going to have anymore children it makes me think I won't.

Lovely video and such a calm birth for baby Lilac. You did amazing. I would say though that you shouldn't have been allowed in the water if your membranes had ruptured x amount of hours before, I wasn't allowed. That's probably why you got sepsis, you should've been given antibiotics intravenously as soon as they realised, my babies were given antibiotics too as soon as they were born. I still ended up with a severe infection 6 weeks post birth with my first because they had been ruptured for so long. Apart from that, you're well now and you have a gorgeous baby and family, Curtis was wonderful too 😊 x
@OrdinaryEnglishMum
@OrdinaryEnglishMum Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! 💖 Do you think? Maybe it was that I feel like they may have ruptured in the water but i did think maybe that was the reason for it. Yes my mum said she had ruptured membranes I think with my brother and they gave her antibiotics. Aw I'm so sorry you went through that it's soo tough!! Especially with a tiny baby it makes it even harder. Thank you so much ❤️❤️
@thefarfromperfectmum
@thefarfromperfectmum Жыл бұрын
@@OrdinaryEnglishMum it could well have been if the membranes ruptured before Labour at some point. If they ruptured in the pool, maybe not as you had quite a quick Labour but I'm sure rhe midwives would've noticed, it's an important part of what they need to look for and record. Sometimes we just don't know, I'm just glad you got helped and treated when you did as sepsis is very serious. You definitely look better now, just try not to over do it over the coming weeks! Xx
