A Girl of the Limberlost can be read without reading Freckles first. If I remember correctly, the biggest connection is the setting. Enjoy the book!

I LOVED The Seven Year Slip. Much more so than A Novel Love Story. It deals heavily with unexpected grief, so if you are not in then right head space, hold off on reading it. I thought it handled it beautifully.

Hi Krista I have been to both Homes of Gene Stratton Porter - her Homes are in my State - Indiana - and they are not that far from me. I loved going and seeing both of her Homes - not at the same time though - in different years. I bought A Girl Of The Limberlost at her First home. They had a little Souvenir Shop with all of her books that she has ever written. It was a really neat place. Her first home has the Swamp in the woods near her home. The book talks about this swamp. Freckles was written and published in 1904 - Book 1 A Girl Of The Limberlost was written and published in 1909 - Book 2 You do not need to read Freckles first - you can read A Girl Of The Limberlost first if you want to which I did. Than I went back and read Freckles. Both of these Books are so good. I hope that you will read A Girl Of The Limberlost soon. Happy Birthday Krista - Enjoy your books and your Puzzle. There's a particular term for books with different elements to it like activity, cut-paste, solve and all such sort of unusual things to it. Can you please let me know what the category of such books is called as? I've been trying to recollect the term but I'm unable to.
