@fiddiehackedАй бұрын
Some believe that Halfrek was living as Cecily for a few years. William noticed her and wrote another "bloody awful poem" to win her affection. Instead she responded with, "You are beneath me". The actress Kali Rocha played both these characters and has said she thinks they are the same person. This was never directly confirmed in the show or by Whedon though.
@Buffy8FanАй бұрын
@@fiddiehacked I prefer to see it from the Watsonian perspective, from a doylist perspective there is no reason to say what they do in recognition of each other. Which is why its confirmed, for me. Halfrek could be many things: Cecile could turned into a demon after William's sudden disappearing. Or she lived in disguise during this time. Or they did hang out, like Anya and Dracula once did. Tara once more showed, why she is the best being imaginable (thanks, Amber❤). Even when she is sassy, she uses it to be selfless protective over the others. I wish everyone to have such a good being in his or her life, making the world a better place.

As much as I like Anya, I do think a lot of things she does in the episode are actually in character, not out of it. She's often deeply selfish and insensitive to others, so being trapped like this is exacerbating those qualities.
@alooncnej4696Ай бұрын

I appreciate your nuance and appreciation for Dawn/what she's dealing with. When I first watched I was 15/16 and couldn't stand her. Now as an adult I can see the excessive levels of trauma during fundamental years that she was dealing with all alone. I think because she's not our heroine and we don't follow her perspective it's really easy for us to only see when she's whining and not consider what her character is dealing with and that her whining and acting out is completely justified and rational. Also think back to season 5 episode 7 "For For Love" and you'll find out how Halfrek and Spike may know one another. 😉

You make an excellent point about the magic / drug parallel. Personally, I love the idea that Willow got addicted to how magic make her feel powerful and in control ... i think the writers missed that beat in episodes like Wrecked where they show her all trippy and on drugs. But to me it was always about how Willow never saw herself for what she really is until she became powerful through magic .... she even said it to Buffy some episodes ago saying who was she before all o this, and that Tara didn't even know that person. So her journey is not about drug addiciton but about fixing the relationship she has with herself and as a result, taking back the control magic has on her.

I think that even if Dawn has friends her age, Buffy would not let her wander off with them because it's Sunnydale and from the trauma of Glory. In season 5, she wouldn't let her go to her friend's house. So Dawn has to hang around them, but they're barely acknowledging her and making time for her. The only one who seems to try with her is Tara and now she's away because of Willow's addiction. No wonder she's stealing, all that's missing is her going out with reckless kids from her school and getting into serious trouble. They are lucky that she looks up to them and wants to connect more with them, but they're too busy living their lives to notice. Anya is being faced with mortality, that's why she's freaking out because she wants to live, get married, have kids... with Xander and it was almost snatched from her.
