idk if you’ve noticed since you’re on season 2 now. but she never never breaks the fourth wall, never talks to us whenever it’s a flashback/memory of boo. it’s like we’re a placeholder for her best friend, her new friends. also the actress is also the main writer of the show. she wrote it as a one-woman play initially, and performed it until it found its home as a limited series.

My no spoilers answer to why they’re together - I think Harry keeps going to fleabag because she’s exciting and unpredictable and I think fleabag keeps Harry around because he is genuinely attracted to her crazy at this point. We start to see in episode 2 he wants something real and easy, and is trying to move their relationship in that direction, despite fleabag not being on the same page. I think she is so starved for genuine affection but can’t differentiate between sexual attraction and actual connection that she’d be with anyone who makes her feel desired. And I’ll let the show answer in more depth as the characters grow!

OMG thank you SO much for realizing Harry is one of these "nice" guys that are not that nice. "You are not like other girls" is really just saying that the average woman is stupid and barely anyone reacting to this even gets this. And yes of course fleabag also has issues :) Looking forward to the next videos! Also for noticing the passive agressiveness from the godmother. I have seen so many men say stuff like "she seems nice" and are shocked in later episodes. SIR it is there from the beginning :D

Just a suggestion: the black version of this is Chewing Gum! It doesn’t get the recognition it deserves and it’s just as good of a show. I love that you get right from the first episode that Fleabag is going through something and know that - as you said - humour is just a disguise for the trauma underneath. Some reactors can feel frustrated with Fleabag’s behaviour initially, thinking she’s unlikeable (the way she treats the guy on that date is pretty horrible) but… there’s obviously more to be seen below the surface.

Someone did a video about the psychology of this show and how she could present as someone with Borderline Personality Disorder and it was amazingly insightful. The name comes from how she sees herself with self loathing, “garbage” or a “fleabag”. It’s very sad and relatable for many people. Just a great show.

Yeah a LOT of people don't catch on to how kind of shitty a father Fleabag has... He is like super passive and distant the majority of the time in his daughter's lives... And for a lot of people who have watched this show on KZbin that just completely flies over their heads so it's kind of interesting and good that you kind of caught on to it from the FIRST scene that he was in.... He's not a good father... I think he's still trying his best, probably. But his best isn't really good enough... Not for Fleabag or Claire, IMO.

I think Martin is a good actor but he was poorly cast because he is too overtly unlikable, I think we should've seen some sense of why her sister would have gone after him to begin with. Some sense that he fit a society standard, like a sleazeball that has more conventional looks or something. But he is too over the top.
