Hi ya'll! Im the grandma in story #3. Thank you for all the advice. I don't have a real big update but here is what has happened while following the advice. On Thursday evening, I showed my husband the segment that I submitted. We had a really long talk about the situation and how to handle things. On Friday the hubby surprised me with a lunch date and a movie. Thunderstorms rolled in the afternoon and needless to say I was in a huge amount of pain. After my husband dropped me off, he went to the kids apartment and had the talk, he told them that I was in a lot of pain and to let me rest. That was at about 4 pm. At around 9:30 my DIL called to ask me if I would/could watch the baby, I said no that I physically could not handle it, she hung up on me. So it stands to reason, you guys were right about getting pissed off. Now yhe "trad" wife thing. I can't even wrap my head around it and I don't think it means what they think it means. But I really don't know, they did get the idea from what I consider unsavory podcasters and tiktokers. To elaborate more, the kids have some wild ideas and are easily influenced. They believe birth control is murder, the female role should exclusively be SAHM, if you take women out of the workforce then better high paying jobs will be available for men to provide. I can't wrap my head around some of the archiac things they believe. So Morgan, you are correct in the influence of social media. But yeah, it's gonna be a bumpy ride if hanging up on me is the beginning.

I didn’t see anyone mention about helping them financially. I mean if they threaten you saying they will not let you see your granddaughter can’t you threaten them for not helping them financially? This all sounds so crazy and spoiled entitled kids. I’m sorry you’re going through this.

I’m so sorry that they are putting you through all of this. You are so strong and you’ll make it out of these hard times soon, they’ll come around! You’re going amazing grandma !

Story 3: how is her daughter in law a trad wife if she is having her mother-in-law be the primary caregiver?! I’m a SAH mom and we have nobody nearby to help even for an occasional date night. I don’t get a break…there is no way that woman can call herself a trad wife…wtf?! That poor mother-in-law! And even if we had family nearby we wouldn’t make them take our kids every day!

Fr! We just moved in with my MIL and even though she is here, she is not the new default parent. Still me! If she WANTS to do something, she says so. Or she offers to help and I let her do the fun part and I take care of the logistics.

I'm so and at op to call that pedo a great guy. Of that story is real (we've had write ins that were just a movie plot you never know). Than grandpa slept with girls yihfber than the 20 year old grandson and let his ex wife be an outcast. And op called him great
@amandar468910 күн бұрын
Omg same! 😅 My son's dad had a grandfather who was a pilot and is believed to have had at least one secret family. It was so common for pilots back then

Story 3: my twin sister (we are 29) has an 8yo married 10yrs. I’m chronically ill with many chronic illnesses I live with my mom. We have her for sleepovers maybe 3x/yr max and they only started more than just their anniversary the last few years as my niece struggles not no sleeping at home. When they ask to babysit they always say “you can say no” if we say no because I’m not well we just do another day. My sister and BIL always says “we wanted a child, we have a child, we want to spend time with our child we want her to be with us”

The 1st story: the dad is punishing the grandkids as well by stopping them from communicating with their grandpa. We get it you fucked up by not believing ur mom and he fucked up by cheating, but wanting to ease ur guilt by punishing ur dad while also punishing ur kids? Come on, that's the best u can do dude ? Ps: I wish you the happiest of birthdays Jerry ❤
@stephjovi11 күн бұрын
Yeah f that grandpa. He didn't just cheat he made his ex wife look crazy and get outcast by her family. He sleeps with women younger than op. Cheating is bad but that he let his ex wife suffer that much is just making him a complete monster and op saying that guy is a great guy makes me think op is gonna be just like his grandpa. How can he defend that guy

Last Story- I was there (a little over 4yr relationship) I moved in to my apartment with the dog and cat we had adopted. he helped me move in but then shortly after I asked for time to heal and learn to be on my own. It is not easy AT ALL there’s gonna be so much alone time and you’ll think of everything about the relationship and think that you should go back BUT be alone give yourself the chance to focus on you and grow. I’ll be on my own for one year next month and trust me I am not going back. Happy Birthday Jerry!!!

Story 3: STOP what you're doing. If they want the trad life, let them. No more buying them stuff all the time, giving them money all the tjme, or babysitting ALL THE TIME. I was a stay at home mom, this trad wife life is bs! You deserve to be a grandma. It is your right to visit, spend time your son and daughter in law OCCASSIONALLY, and spoil your grandchild, not raise your grandchild. By setting boundaries, you are showing your son, daughter in law, and grandchild how to set healthy boundaries, love oneself, and communicate your needs. Tell your son you need time to recoup as your exhausted and you need time to yourself. Morgan has some good advice.

Story 3- mama- DO NOT BACK DOWN!! Be stern and brave. You’re a mother but also a fucking person, grandma, wife, friend etc AND have physical pain… bi polar or not- your son will be fine. Maybe they won’t let you see the baby- give it a week- they’ll let you see that baby again. Please be strong you got this!! Worst case- just show them this video. Or my comment. Grow up kids. It’s time. Mom, you’re not helping them grow. Buck up everyone. Also sending love and strength 🫶🏼😘💗🪻⚡️

Story 3: my mom, grandma and myself watch my nieces often. My sister is beyond grateful for the help and if we can’t it’s a simple no and it’s maybe next time. I would seriously give specific dates and time and stick to that schedule. Nothing more. Like dad said it’s gonna be tough for a while but it needs to change. Crappy situation.

Story 2- I will say my family is a bit weird in the way we’ve always taken photos of each other while sleeping… it started when my sister and I were super young and would take my moms camera phone back in like 05’ and take photos of her sleeping. As we grew we would sleep in hilarious ways, so my mom would take pictures of us as well. Now I take pictures of my daughter. Where this stepmom is weird asf, is she’s sending them to her *friends*. My family would send them to our family group chat and/or just keep them for memories. Maybe post them among other photos for someone’s birthday or something.

I’m the write for story 2. Unfortunately mine were sent to people who later on told me. I found out back in February of this year. We had “built a relationship” or I thought we did. I have not seen or talked to her since April and I do not plan on seeing her anytime soon.

Im 19, im a homemaker, i do all the cleaning, cooking, and take care of our two dogs. When we have kids, ill take care of them while my husband is at work. Hes incredible, btw, he takes care of something if he sees it, like if i forgot to sweep or if the dog needs food or water. I know, thats the bare minimum, but it shows me that if we were to have kids, hed help without being asked. For the most part, even if i asked, he'll go do it. I cant imagine relying on my mother in law to help me and my husband with our child, let alone taking care of her all day every day. I dont even call myself a "trad wife."

Hi Jerry, Happy Birthday, I am your age as well!! I listen every week to you guys and to THT's. I wonder if that TRAD wife knows what TRAD means, maybe she and her husband should look it up. She should be relishing the day taking care of her baby and family as a whole. I think they don't want the baby from what I heard. I hope they don't kill it from neglect when grandma stops taking care of it. Poor grandma! This is criminal. I hope she stops this nonsense of her taking care of this kid. Thats's neglect on the parents part. Also, if he isn't on his meds (the young dad) he may need a visit from a service to provide guidance and supervision because it's mighty scary for families when they aren't medicated properly. I also wanted to say I am so sorry your guys lost Holly-RIP Holly, you were very loved. Thanks all!!

Story 3: Grandma, you are right, you and your husband have created this monster so you have to work hard to get out of this. I 1000% recommend therapy because the guilt will try to make u back down n there will be push back or “drama” so u have to stay strong. Not to mention dealing with chronic pain is enough of a burden. You have permission to advocate for yourself and don’t need to put ur adult son over your needs

Dear dad, Morgan and Justin. I absolutely adore your show and value your opinions and podcasts so much. Happy belated birthday, fun fact: my own dad is born on September 3rd as well and this year my beautiful nephew was born on September 3rd! So I guess that means something. I came across Two Hot Takes later on, so I have listened to over 170 episodes in a month or so. This made me start listening to FKS, so this is why I am so late with responding on the episode number 13 with Jerry and Justin's dad: Jason. What an amazing episode! Just wanted to ask you, can Justin's dad come back on an episode? He gives wonderful advice and has an amazing soothing voice. Or even beter, let him start a podcast as well. Trust me, it will work. Thank you for everything you teach me and all the good advice! You have such a kind heart and beautiful soul, dad. Same applies to your 2 kids on the pod 😉. Kind regards, Adinda

Happy belated birthday, Jerry (dad)! 🎉🥳 Hope you had a wonderful day and were spoiled. I love your show. ❤ Edit: Story 3: Sorry, but I think the 19 year old mom and the 22 year old dad don't want to be parents. I was a mom at 26 (now 40) and I wasn't sure if I could do it. They are so young and they're probably realizing how much they're missing out on having a life. But as the MIL, you have to tell them tough shit! They are parents now and its time to act like parents. The MIL has already done the parenting thing,(not that it ever ends). The young parents need to step it up and act like adults if theyre going to do adult things like have unprotected sex and get pregnant.

Story 3 is my family istfg. I wrote in about a month ago, and if ever they get to mine, I just got to say.. if her son is anything like my sister who left her child with my mom my grandma and myself.. saying hey you need to take responsibility and pay for yourself will not work. They will not take responsibility. If u do that they will just say well fine, and take their child away forever and then not be able to financially or emotionally support the child. At least when it’s with the family who shouldn’t have to shoulder the responsibility the baby is taken care of. At least in my family experience

Story 1: I think you guys got confused about this story. The grandfather gaslit the whole family probably including his ex-wife that she is crazy as opposed to him cheating. Through his smear campaign the whole family didn’t believe her and ostracized her. People were complacent in not believing her but now that everyone knows, the granddaughter/son still wants to have a relationship? This kind of lying and cruelty is not something I would ever be able to stomach in a close relative/person - he destroyed the life of the woman he had been married to for decades (probably as revenge for leaving him) and you want that person in your life, because they didn’t do it to you?… Ok, but by that reasoning, you shouldn’t expect any support from people if anything bad happens to you, after all it didn’t happen to them so justice/support is off the table… Why does something have to happen to people, to understand the issue and severity, have some empathy and judgment.

Not enough room to comment on story 3. Such a common theme these days. We want to give them a better life than we had, it then turns them into lazy entitled drains on us. And then it made to be the problem of u can’t or won’t. I’m trying to give my kids more than I had but seeing and hearing this common problem I am very much trying balance. Balance seems to be a big key to life. Balance is hard.
