We have a cabin back in Locke Valley and have been on the Standing Stone quite a few times. If you took a left off the trail going out from your car and went down the mountain you would hit a rough road used to get to our camp and a few others. The road is gated off of Locke Valley road. Thanks for the video.

At mile 13.4 northbound there is a trail junction with a sign. The trail to MR drops a bit then climbs back up with a view to the west.

Sorry you didn't make it. I hiked this section (and on to US 522) in 2016. The SST turns left at the side trail to Monument Rock while the side trail goes to the right. I'll let the SSTA know about the trail conditions--it looks like it could use reblazing, and checking on some signs.
