It's about someone excepting you for who you really are even the person we are when no one is around, whatever that is! You Don't necessarily have to be a pos. Everyone has a skeleton or two in their closet. Great song awesome voice! Great reaction.

Well I think this is a great reaction gentlemen I think you've both got the wrong end of the stick. What he's saying is I'm a human being I do good things, I do bad things, and I've got dreams. If you can live with me and my past and my love then I'll try and be a better person

That is what I got out of it too, he's saying "you are gonna find out I'm not perfect, will you still love me anyway?"

From what I’ve heard, Darius’s roots are in country and gospel. Then with Hootie and the Blowfish, his handlers wanted him to “inter act” with groupies, he didn’t want that as he was happily married. When he moved to country music that pressure went away. Total respect for him sticking with his wife over the money!
@aaronz941010 ай бұрын
Darius, and the rest of Hootie do in fact go back to country. They were a college band from South Carolina. They had/have deep country roots, and is a reason they would cover country songs at all of their concerts. The part you don’t have right is when he went to country he didn’t end up staying with his wife, they ultimately divorced. I will not judge that, because from all accounts it was amicable.
@planojag59510 ай бұрын
Darius grew up in South Carolina listening to all kinds of music. He formed a band in the 90s with college buddies which became hugely successful and after they broke up he decided he wanted to tap into his country roots but wasn't sure how the country music community would accept him and if those that knew him as Hootie would like his style of country music. Well, as a fellow Gen X'er who also grew up listening to all kinds of music and can readily alternate listening to rock, pop, country, classical, R&B, Latin, and oldies, I was excited to hear Darius sing country songs for the first time. I love how country music tells stories that are relatable to the common man and as I get older I find myself turning to country music more than the other genres that I still love. I was just hoping that he would be successful and that he'd release songs that would fit into the 90s style of country music and not the latest "Bro Country" fad which has little lasting value. Well, not only did he release great music but his songs are a perfect blend of who he is and what he wants to say. His voice lends itself well to the genre and he surrounds himself with great musicians. My favorite of his songs are It Won't Be Like This For Long, If I Yold You, So I Sang, and Come Back Song.

Y’all definitely wanna see (hear) his ‘Twenty Something’; feeling pretty confident you’ll be able to relate. Most of us do!!!☺️ I believe you’ll solely find ‘official audio video’ on KZbin for this one. No matter- it’s darn good stuff. And then also ‘So I Sang’. It’s acoustic, autobiographical, and just some good, heartfelt, ‘this is me; this is who I am’ kinda stuff! Y’all are as enjoyable as ever!! You’ll never know the stuff you’ve helped me & no doubt plenty of others through over the past yr or so. Suffice to say hospital waiting rooms & areas are far more bearable w BCR and some earbuds❤️🩹❤️ Stay safe & love BIG!!!💖
