Všetko najlepšie and happy birthday Petra! Just a note why Prekmurje is so different comparing to the rest of Slovenia: it used to be a part of the Hungarian Kingdom, just like Slovakia (other parts of Slovenia were Austrian counties). Consequently then, prekmurščina evolved in a relative isolation form other Slovenian dialects. Yes, and gibanica: it looks like Slovak štedrák cake - my grandma from the Upper Nitra region used to make it just for Christmas.

Hi there :) Yes, agree with all. The whole region looks quite similar to Slovakia, especially in terms of architecture. And yes gibanica = štedrák :)

prekmurje region is similar to slovakia. we both was under hungarian king for about 1000years. you eat halušky, we eat galuška. our languige is less similar to slovenian than slovenian to croatian.

Happy belated birthday. :) Also, happy belated women's day. :) I also moved abroad. I have been living abroad for a month. I hope I can stay here longer. If the Prekmurscina is similar to Hungarian, I might be able to understand some parts of it, because I am Hungarian.
