My life basically started in NM as it is where my parents were raised, but my Dad was in the Navy stationed in VA when I was born and they didn't make it back to NM until I was about 2. We reluctantly moved to OK when I was 11 and I've been there every since, but I never forgot about my favorite cookie, favorite sweet of all time, The Biscochos!! Mom always had us help her make these every year and it was something I always enjoyed as well!!! She lost her recipe somewhere along the way and so we hadn't had them in years until about 5 years ago when I was finally able to find the recipe online when I was 47. That makes me 52 now!!!!! Now I make them every year myself, and every year I'm transported to my childhood and I am in heaven, until the last cookie is eaten, LOL!!! Thank you for not only sharing the recipe, but also demonstrating how the lard must be whipped/creamed and to continue that process until all of the wet ingredients and the anise seeds are incorporated, as a lot of recipe videos don't even touch on that part of the process to make these light, just a little crispy, wonders of heaven!!!!! Much love, many blessings, Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!!!!

So pleased to find this recipe. My grandmother used to make them for Christmas, but she took the recipe with her when she passed away at 100, almost made it to 101. She was a fantastic cook, but would not share her recipies. Thank you for posting, great job.

Awe. You're grandma must have been so special. I was named after my great aunt, Marcela, who was the closest thing to a grandma I had. She lived to be 101 and I loved her cooking. It was very simple, but for whatever reason, it just tasted better in her kitchen. Anyway, I'm happy you found this recipe. I hope it brings back sweet memories.

Thank you. Yes, my mom and I are very close and I have stacks and stacks of her recipes. What's funny is, she had bought me that cookie press years ago, because it's exactly like hers, but I had never used it until the day we shot this video. I had no idea she had put that recipe in there. It was so precious to me.

I don't know where to start, but I'll try to keep it short . You don't "fluff" around when it comes to making biscochitos! They look great, I loved how you put the traditional little diamond pattern in there it's always my favorite! I love the look on your face when you found the recipe, it was priceless! I could smell the Anise when you're crushing it! And most of all thanks for using my video, that was real sweet and nice of you guys I was happy to do it for you! And made me want to be there on Christmas Eve, when they light the real luminarias/farolitos. Thanks for the comment, as well. Hi Marcy! I have tried numerous recipes for biscochitos and have never been completely satisfied. This year, I found your channel and tried your recipe. Today, I can say that I have finally found THE best recipe and am now totally satisfied. (So is the family!) These are absolutely the melt in your mouth variety. (I did tweak it by adding some clove and vanilla though). Thank you for sharing! BTW, I live in Albuquerque, NM, and here these are called "biscochitos"- the diminutive. But, I'm from Southeastern New Mexico, which is closer to Texas where everything is big - Lol! There, these are called "biscochos." I don't care how their called - ha! ha! I just like my cookies exactly like these. Thank you again! You're a cookie-hero!
