Great video, seams to cook pretty evenly with the expectation of the one hot zone. Can't wait to get a nice cooker like this some day!

Thank you for the kind words @GorillaJoesBBQ💯💯 Yeah this thing is pretty darn even. I can even use my Brinkmann Trailmaster tuning plate to have it run even all the way across with no hot zone. Just uses a lot more wood. Lol. That dog gone WSM you got will hold you and I would STRONGLY encourage you to build yourself a 55 gallon drum smoker. Those things crank out some AMAZING Que and my 2nd choice next to the Offset. Thanks again and Blessings to you and your family. Smoke on!!

Thanks for the review. This the first test I’ve seen like this on the lonestar besides the test lonestar grill did on the bigger vertical smoker. Do you wish you purchased the mini vertical smoker over this? Then they also have a bigger one. I would like for you to take everything into consideration. Such as price, cost of shipping, space you actually use during a cook. I cook at home. Sometimes having the extra space gives more flexibility. The vertical smokers are also more of a charcoal and wood chunks set up. I have not seen anybody use wood splits. The one you have can do both. The mini vertical also has a water pan. I like that. I have a Weber kettle and the water pan helps promote bark on a brisket. Thanks for taking your time out to do this video.

Good Morning Brother Lamar, Thank you so much for checking us out and leaving this great comment as well as questions. Let’s start with the regrets. This cabinet smoker was something I took A LOT of time weighing my options on and after much though, I decided this was my dream smoker. I absolutely love burning sticks and also knew I could also run it using the charcoal basket and wood chunks. I also like cooking over direct heat and this firebox and grate set up gives me that option as well ANOTHER option to griddle. The Size for me is perfect. The foot print is perfect for my backyard but the cook space is massive. This pit makes me money for that reason. I do small drop off catering here and there as well as Family events that require a lot of real estate for meat so it’s clutch in these instances. So no regrets as it really is a dream smoker for me. Now as far as the water pan goes, this is a water smoker. I typically shoot a gallons of water in the cook chamber before most cooks so not having a water pan isn’t an issue for me and having a ball valve drain under my pit makes it a breeze to clean out. I have ran this pit with and without water and the bark is money either way you do it but I do prefer having moisture in my pit I’m most cases. I think the question you will have to ask yourself is do you like tending fire every 45 minutes to an hour., or being able to walk away from your pit for long periods of time and having more freedom. As far as pricing and shipping goes my take is, if your spending thousands on something, don’t let the difference of the extra hundreds of dollars be a factor and likewise, if you KNOW you don’t need all the extra space then it’s perfectly fine to go smaller and save that extra money or put it toward additional add ons you may want. LSG has just released a pellet version of the same pit I have so you may want to check that out as well and it’s cheaper than the stick burner since it doesn’t have a firebox. Definitely worth checking out. Hope this helps and Please let me know what you decided to go with. If you haven’t already help me out by subbing to the channel. I have a ton of LSG cooks and informative LSzG videos on there. Peace and blessings to you

Have you tried adjusting the tuning plates to see if that results in some more even temperatures across all sides of the grate?

Thanks for checking out the content! We definitely appreciate it. I have adjusted the tuning plates and even added a large tuning plate from my Brinkmann that made it run dead even. I still reverted back because it’s great to have a hot area for things like chicken. I have found that you can make this thing run however you want with practice and experimenting. Hope this helps and God bless you.

Did you put thermometers on left side, I think you would get higher temperatures.

Firstly, BIG THANKS for watching the content as we GREATLY appreciate any support that comes our way. The actual thermometer is in the middle but I also have 2 oven thermometers that can be moved wherever u want them. You are right about the left side being the hot side but that generally on the lower grates the heat is actually cooler on the two upper grates and with these tuning plates you can makes this thing pretty even all the way across as long as your not using the lower grates to do so. Hope this helps and God bless you. Thanks again
