6:46 Mystery diode thingy is what turns on your "low fuel" light. It is a continuity probe. When the fuel drops below the Mystery diode thingy's level, it detects the open circuit and turns on the "low fuel" light.

7:10 that black goo is normal to see when pulling a pump out of an old 90's car. I remember removing a pump out of a 89 Miata, the original pump and it looked exactly like that. The rubber gasket just got aged to goo with all the old fuel.

only concern is that you didn't hose clamp the pump side. that's known to cause the pinhole effect. the pump will push past it and you will lose pressure at the rail. if you start having fuel issues while driving, start there

Generally, I've found if a car has been sitting a long time (years) and not started, the fuel pump will be in need of rebuild or replacement. I've had this happen several times over the years, from manual pump, factory electric pumps, and aftermarket Holley pumps.

Be careful with the alternators on the boat, unless they are specific for this aplication they do need protection due to the salt
@michaelluberto11812 жыл бұрын
Consider installing marine alternators and starters. Other than the upgraded internals and coatings for Harsh environments. They are mainly designed for safety reasons due to the possibility of sparks Inside of a enclosed compartment with the possibility of a Fuel leak.

It’s actually very common that pumps die sitting but in the future if you wanna just get the car running, you can take your power probe and apply power and ground to the pump and keep reversing power and ground back and forth and it’ll break the pump free and start working again.

the black is the isolator that has melted over time. Ive seen quite a few of these on mitsubishi cars esp when race gas, ethanol, or emissions pass chemicals have been used or left too long in the tank... also that looks like a walboro pump, not the factory toyota / Denso pump

@jeremysharp54362 жыл бұрын
Unless I missed it, it looks like you only have one hose clamp holding the fuel line from your new fuel pump to the outlet tube, and it's only a clip style. You need to replace it with high pressure "fuel injector" hose clamp, and add one where the hose meets the pump. Otherwise you run the risk of being able to push that rubber line off and have your fuel pressure leak past it.

I think the "gunk" on the bottom of the pump was glue, attached to bottom of tank, to keep the pump from vibrating

that is the prime mode of the pump. If it was on all the time (Like when the engine is running) it would flood the engine. You can feel the pressure on the hose under the hood When the engine is running. You can feel the pressure pulse truh the hose. you just cant hear the fuel pump running because the engine is on and the pump is to quiet for you to hear. I do no that you got. either a bad pump or a bad relais/fuse but sinds it has power on the plug it could be the pump. One more thing check the turbo's before they grenade on it

Some gas pump systems only prime when there is Oil pressure detected, in other words, only when you really try to get it running. Probably this is a fail safe to not start the engine without oil in it…. One way to turn on pumps in systems like this is to jump the oil pressure connector. That said, not sure if this is the case of Supras, never worked on them
