I am a Catholic born in the 60s. I am also gay. I carry that burden and try to live my faith. I was born into the Latin Mass and grew up during Vatican II (poorly implemented imho.) I was told I would burn in hell. But, Jesus chased this sinner across a country to tell me “I love you, trust in me.” I did! When I opened my heart to Jesus, he filled it! Standing alone, so far from home, I met salvation! My life has been transformed by faith, the gift of mercy, and unconditional love of The Trinity! My life is for God. I want to kneel in humble reverence when I receive the Eucharist. His is the hand I reach for now. Hope this helps someone

I am soooo relieved to hear Bishop Barron's take on the Synod; that repentance is most important in our walk with Jesus. His( repent) is key to receiving all he has for us. Jesus death requires all of us to be a repentant. ❣ Thank you for this talk. Jesus thirsts for repented sinners!!!

@@oliverclark5604 I'm sorry but I don't understand what your point is. All I know is that Jesus forgives us when we repent and He did say after he forgives you of that sin He said " go and sin no more". So if you repent of homosexuality for instance, He will forgive however he means it when he says SIN NO MORE. He is a merciful God but expects us to keep the commandments. We are seeing His Justice in the world as we continue to allow abortion, and other Mortal sin. The Church needs to keep to the gospel of our Lord. ( no wavering)

Thank you brother. I returned to the church about 12 years ago. About 4 years ago my life fell apart. I have been struggling and asking more questions. At times, my faith teetered on the edge, and still does. While going through the pain of a spouse abandoning the marriage , unfortunately, I felt alone and lost. I love the balanced approach of the Good Bishop and the presenter hit it on the head. Love is not a what, it’s a “who”. Christ is complete and full love. And we, with all our flaws are supposed to incarnate that love. It isn’t taught, it’s lived. So as I struggle through this and feel like giving up. If anyone can please pray for me. Thanks everyone. Remember to do all things in charity.

This has been spoken of, plain as day, by many in recent years. Be welcoming, yes, but "go and sin no more". I appreciate a long letter to spell it out but it doesn't take a theologian to see this. They like unity...we should be in unity on this. By the way, I have never once heard anything about the synod in any church in my local area. I don't know how many churches are actually participating. Good for Bishop Barron to speak up. Pray for him.

There are many movements that have minimized the seriousness of sin and that the person caught up in sin need to be transformed by His grace. Otherwise you waste the grace. You cannot tell people once save always saved is real. God is just. As far as the welcoming of all ... would you let a pedophile babysit your child ? How does a person know the change is real.

Not hearing of the synod in your local area is a part of the entire problem with the synodal process. You should have had parish level meetings about it widely publicized in 2020 and 2021. The fact that you did not, indicates somebody thinks you are too conservative to let your voice be heard.

@Oliver Clark I am against the individualism and divorce in general, of course, but it is not that which I fear is coming from the synod in 2025. Rather I fear a complete abandonment of procreation in favor of malthusian eugenics environmentalism and the aberosexual practices that support general human extinction. Laudato Si mentions this danger, but does not speak strongly enough against it; the focus of the Document for the Contintental Stage of the Synod is strongly for anti-creative aberosexuality and strongly against heteronormative lifelong families.

That was beautiful. And, yeah, whenever I hear talk of 'evangelization' among Catholics, I think of a dog chasing a car: what's he gonna do when he catches it? I'm a recent convert (2019) and was very secular, very atheistic and led a very disordered, albeit straight, life (Us CIS gendered straights can be disordered too!) It took me a couple years to get the teachings of The Church in this regard. I. Just. Didn't. Get. It. And, when I did get it, it was by the Grace of God and hit me all at once--I was like, OOOHHH and took immediate steps to change my ways. When I got it, there was absolutely no question in my mind that I had to get my poop together and fix it. And, none of it happened because anybody nagged me or bullied me or admonished me. I have people close to me who are lgbtq and married. They're my friends. If they're open, I share about my conversion and tell them about Our Blessed Mother and The Little Flower or The Angels and Christ Crucified. If it comes up, we discuss this or that statement by The Pope. They express disappointment that he hasn't 'gone further' on lgbtq issues. They were hoping...And, I explain that he can't. He can have his personal views and commitments but when it comes to matters of Faith and Doctrine, he's not free to just change things bc he wants too. God's Church doesn't work that way. Everybody gets the logic of "it is what it is" and God's Church is what it is. I didn't mean to type so much. Sorry. But, it was a beautiful vid. :)

My wife and I were just talking about this subject. Whenever we hear inclusive and welcoming, we understand that yes everyone is welcome to come and sit in the pew. Like an old Protestant preacher said “ everyone is welcome but they ought not feel comfortable “…..So when the rest of the pagan world hears the Church talking about inclusivity and welcoming, they need to be made to understand that , you can come but you cannot receive Jesus in the Eucharist, nor be confirmed. I just wish our Pope and our leadership would say what needs to be said clearly and unapologetically.

Bishop Barron getting it right.. Francis cardinal George "All are welcome but on Christ's Terms".. Which brings me to this question and asking for help... How does a Catholic school deal with world hijab day coming up on the 1st of February? The Islamic Cultural Centre (ICC) of Ireland, have sent out posters and signed letters from its youth coordinator, to catholic schools in Ireland with five suggestions on how to mark the occasion. The 3rd suggestion reads "Get students to bring in scarves that they can wear around their necks"... Basically asking catholic students to take part. I assume the reason for reaching out to catholic schools in Ireland is because there might be muslin students at the schools. To make things more complicated it clashes with our very own St. Bridget's feast day, which is a big feast day in all catholic schools. The ICC are saying in the letter that its an idea as a means to foster personal freedom of religious expression and cultural understanding by inviting young women to experience the hijab for one day. This is relatively new, started by a Muslim lady, Nazma Khan, in New York on the 1st of Feb, 2013.

If you do that, you are commiting a terrible sin by cooperating with the demonic evil which is Islam.

Thanks much yet again for the absolute clarity of your teaching, No going around in circles just the absolute truth as it is. That is what i want to hear despite the challenge it brings to my life. Jesus is my life and always will be, but to become closer to Him I have to know Him so I have to fill my mind with Truth and not the everyday rubbish that give no fulfilment but eats up the time that I will never get back. God Bless You Always. When He chose You He chose well Pierce

I am a Traditional Catholic in the United States of America. I live my life believing that God is Love and all people in this world need Love. St Augustine said true Love is willing the good of the other as other. All people need Love . All people deserve to be Loved as We Love ourselves. Through kindness, generosity , gentleness caring brings out Love to all people we meet.

I liked Bishop Barren since that series he did on Catholic though, admittedly, have suffered his teachings on "dear we hope all will be saved". I sense also that he is angry and suffers, he confesses himself, from intellectual pride. But I do pray that he may be a key figure in bringing the true Faith back to the centre of our Church. 🙏. Thank you Robert for your sincerity.

So well said! It IS a different language. I have stumbled and had a serious case of foot in mouth disease. It's not for me to tell someone how they should come to Christ. I need to let HIM speak. If through me, wonderful. But I can't force it. You're right, we need to act as models of Jesus. Wonderful channel!!

Thank you, Bishop Barron, for speaking the truth. The Church is inclusive and welcoming to all of us sinners, but it must be, as Cardinal George said, on Christ's terms, not ours. Christ instructed His Church: "...Make disciples from all nations. Baptize them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teach them to obey all that I have commanded."

As a youngster of 12 yrs. We moved to the Deep South US where there was a lot of bigotry toward the Catholic Church due to misunderstanding as there were few Catholics in the area at that time. The very first day in public school I was told I was going to hell and several of my fellow classmates turned and would have nothing to do with me. Additionally my teacher was also bigoted and made many false statements in class about the church and nuns. I was devastated at first, but God made lemonade out of lemons for me. Because of the hurt I chose to find out more about what I believed as a Catholic. I was bold enough to correct her lies and took some repercussions at times. I am forever grateful to God for allowing me to have this cross and for walking me through it. Because I developed a strong faith in Catholicism and know in my heart that I belong to the true Church and have a loving God/ Christ/ Holy Spirit who stands with me and loves me. I came out stronger. I only pray that our Church will emerge from this trial with a stronger magisterium, changed from modernism because God will convert their hearts.

YES YES YES Bishop Baron .... EXACLTY .... God loves us where we are in our sin AND loves us too much to leave us in that state of darkness ..... that is the conservative position .... they are purposefully ambiguous ....and since Dubias aren't responded to, best wishes in getting an honest response yourself ... Robert .. when you refer to starting where the person is , is essential .... I always recall what St. Bernadette said ... "My job is the inform, not to convince."

From one of the "reproaches" of Good Friday: "What was there more that I ought to have done for thee, and did not do? I planted thee to be of all my vineyards the most beautiful: yet exceeding bitter hast thou been to me." That reproach hits my heart deeply. Our Holy Creator loves us so much, and we neglect him so badly. We don't follow his laws that help us to climb out of our sins and take His hand. My heart breaks for Him every time I sin, and every time the world sins against His incredible love for us.

Delighted for Barron! I have common ground with him. His idea that we have a reasonable hope that all are saved, made no sense to me. Based on scripture and the Fathers. But bravo to him.
