Friends, as many of you are aware, on Halloween night Calvary Cemetery in Rochester was vandalized. Those profane marks have now been removed, and we wanted to make sure the cemetery was spiritually cleansed as well. I performed the Rite for Reconciling a Profaned Cemetery. As a part of this rite, we prayed the Litany of the Saints, read Psalm 50, sprinkled holy water across cemetery grounds and all places where the deceased were profaned, and concluded in prayer.
This vandalism is an affront to not only common decency but to those families who, as a work of mercy, placed the remains of their loved ones in a place where prayers could be offered and their memory could be cherished.
Most Merciful Father, deign to purify and to reconcile this resting place of your pilgrims, who look for a haven in your heavenly kingdom.

At the end of the day, it's not about a priest's status in the Church. The pointy hat is just a hat. But a man willing to go above and beyond to help both the living in this world and those who have been laid to rest is a man of God and a good teacher.

Watching this, I could not help but draw a comparison to our early church fathers who gathered and guarded the faithful with the power of the Holy Spirit, promised to us by Jesus Christ our Lord, to safeguard us from the gates of hell. Thank you Bishop Barron for continuing to carry the banner of this holiness, reminding us that, "For, although we are in the flesh, we do not battle according to the flesh, for the weapons of our battle are not of flesh but are enormously powerful, capable of destroying fortresses. We destroy arguments and every pretension raising itself against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive in obedience to Christ,.." 2 Cor 10:3-5

I think any kind of ignorant, obscene, or even blasphemous graffiti should be left on any public religious item. Unless the municipality decides to clean it up. I think that seeing the hatred for the holy unites us even further as a church and serves to galvanize our faith. We don’t worship a pristine looking guy “hovering” in front of a cross. We worship a divine man disfigured by vicious scourging and who was brutally murdered out of that very same hatred. If we are, together, the mystical body of Christ, we should boldly let our own stripes show as well.

Eh, no. Can you imagine how distressed the relatives of the deceased would feel? If someone broke into your home, smashed the place up and daubed obscenities all over the walls, would you leave it like that when you had friends and family over (including small children)? After a week you might find yourself galvanising your faith on your own.😟

Were you present for the entire consecration- or just the 2 min snipet video? How do you know the name of Jesus was not invoked? Judge and assume much? BTW- When the words “God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit” are invoked ... News Flash! God the Son is “Jesus Christ.”

@@zoriana__ I repeat the same questions that you have already been asked, were you there? Have you seen the complete video? Are you saying that the name of Jesus was not invoked or praised? Last time I checked, there is no law that says that every prayer and liturgical celebration must begin with the exact words "praise be to our Lord Jesus Christ now and forever." The Bishop greeted people with a normal good wishes for the day, introduced purpose of the gathering and then began the prayers. The prayers began with the sign of the Cross. Please don't turn the life of faith into a joke with such myopic way of looking at things. Remember you only saw 2 minutes of what I believe was at least 30 minutes long.

@@ajessm Halloween was ‘Made in Ireland’ and you are claiming that what we made is _intrinsically_ evil. Nope. What some Americans have made is intrinsically evil …and then they slapped the label ‘Halloween’ on top of what they made. What those disgusting sickos did in Calvary Cemetery has nothing to do with Halloween apart from the date. Call a spade a spade! Jesus. 335 Mary. 1 Mary was so important to the apostles when they were writing their letters to the New Testament churches that she was only mentioned once after Jesus had ascended to heaven. (Acts 1:14) Jesus on the other hand was named 335 times. Mary was clearly unimportant to the early apostles. She has no role in salvation. She was an honorable young woman from Nazareth. She obeyed God

@yourfriendlyneighborhoodin1559
@yourfriendlyneighborhoodin1559 Жыл бұрын
@@peterg1978 The apostles never mentioned her, they treated her as if her job was completed, but we do have a few pages worth of information from the Gospels. Regarding Mary's sins and mistakes recorded for us in the Gospels. We cannot read the hearts and minds of others so sometimes it is difficult to tell the difference between a sin and a mistake. 1. John 2:1-12. Mary attempted to take inappropriate authority over Jesus at the wedding at Cana. Jesus immediately and politely told her not to tell him what to do. "What does that have to do with you and me, woman? My hour has not yet come." 2. Matthew 12:46-50-(and other passages.) Mary attempted to interrupt Jesus when he was ministering to his disciples. A sin or a mistake? Only God knows. Jesus refused to see them. The answer he gave was quite telling. Matthew 12:48-50 ESV - But he replied to the man who told him, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers! For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” His larger family at one point referred to him as "out of his mind." Mark 3:21 ESV - And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, “He is out of his mind.” It's clear from the context that Mary was at the very least cooperating with this general feeling in the family because she attempted to interrupt him with them. The Marian doctrines insist that Jesus cannot not say no to Mary, but he did, she was wrong for attempting to interrupt him. There is no avoiding the fact that this would have been somewhat embarrassing for her to be brushed off by her son in public. 3. Luke 2:41-52. In the instance when she lost contact with him when he was 12 years old, Mary questioned Jesus. If she had some transcendent Saint-like knowledge of the true God nature of her child then she would not have been in any "distress". When they reunited Jesus politely rebuked her and said, Luke 2:49-50 ESV - And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” And they did not understand the saying that he spoke to them. Luke records for us that even after his explanation "they did not understand". Though, to Mary's credit it says she "kept all these things in her heart" and then later gave this account to Luke to write down for us. No interpretation is needed, Mary did not understand. Mary's ignorance led her into a mistake. 4. And finally the one that does not need any interpretation because Mary judged herself. Luke 1:47 ESV - and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, Mary freely admitted that she needed a savior. Mary judged herself as a sinner.
