Glad to hear that Bishop Strickland believes that Francis is the legitimate Pope. But, does he believe that the Pope cannot teach heresy in his authentic Magisterium. That’s not clear.

The question arose because he publicly read a sedevacantist's letter in Pope Francis's backyard and called it "love". Sedevacacantism is schism (Canon Law 751), as Vigano is finding out. Schism is a mortal sin and Bishop Strickland called a mortal sin "love". That is like blessing sin. People started bring up this issue recently because he keeps advertising for other sedevacantists in his social media. It would be nice to see Bishop Strickland asked about these issues so he can apologize to Pope Francis.

Which sedevacantist has Bishop Strickland been advertising for that you mentioned?

This trash that everyone who disagrees with some aspects of the papacy is in schism is being spread by Michael lofton. It's very sick.

Yes would like to hear from B. Strickland if he still backs Vigano since the material came out (some time ago) that Vigano (not Francis) was the one protecting McCarrick. Since this info came out the prelates supporting Vigano have been strangely silent.

I think the removal of Strickland was very justified, especially given the increase in Catholics calling an ecumenical council "poison." If you beleive in Catholic teaching you have to respect ecumenical councils. Trent and Nicea were both followed by chaotic times in the Church, but rather than people of the time saying (though some might have) "its a failure" they allowed God and the Holy Spirit to do His work and now they are solid respected Church teaching. After Vatican II were there liturgical abuses? Sure. Did the Church grow in places like Africa? Yes. Did it diminish in the west? Also yes. We arent some little church measuring God's effects through councils of the Holy Church in decades. We have to see over a couple hundred years the full effects, and maybe it would surprise us. It IS God at work, and I for one think he knows what he is doing and His Church is now and will remain solid.

@evelynkerubo7398 To an extent you're right and I was uncharitably lumping him in with people like Vigano. I DO think he invited it at sometimes, vocally supporting Vigano in the past etc. however he hasn't recently, and does support Vatican II, and this clarification- though I think necessary-does put some things to rest for me. That said I don't know what happened behind closed doors between him and the Pope's people, so generally I should reserve judgement. Honestly most of my response was less aimed at Bishop Strickland, and more at the people I saw in the comments after the video. He has many people lauding him, supporting him, and for lack of a nuanced way to say it "are taking his side" who themselves VERY much embody the spirit of what I said. Also I am SO sick of rad trad and anti trad labeling. We are ALL Catholic. Period. I can add some criticism to Francis for doing the same with "liberal" vs "conservative" in his interview. I LOVE tradition. I have been to TLM and at my church even the NO has a kneeler in front of the priest so we can kneel to receive, and I do. So I'm not anti tradition, and no Catholic should be. However I feel "rad trad" is a misnomer when it can be boiled down to loving and supporting Vigano, skipping Novus Ordo masses on purpose when TLM isn't available, and weaving criticism on the Papacy itself and the legitimacy of the Holy Father into daily discourse rather than just criticizing what can be a divisive Pope. It's not very "traditional" at all to say the Pope is illegitimate, we are in the end times, and encouraging people to see Vatican II as a failure. But you're right, Strickland did not do this, but he has many followers who do and he doesn't discourage them. Much, to be fair, the way Francis doesn't do enough to discourage foolish men like Father Martin. THOUGH I would argue Francis does more on his side of it.

@evelynkerubo7398 I mean, I don't disagree with you. I came here because I actively looked around to find Bishop Strickland saying "Francis is the Pope" and couldn't until this video. So before I posted I did already have a bias against him. I would like to say though I really admire Bishop Burke most of the time, though he did bring into question Francis's attitude towards gay unions, and after that caught on like wildfire FS came out. I do listen to Michael Lofton, because coming back to the Church in looking for some grasp on things I came across people who I agreed with on so much, got attached to, and then they came out saying Francis is a heretic or ended up already schismatic in a subtle way. I'll level with you, I recently returned to the Church. So I am "new" to these Church politics. But I am PASSIONATE about them because I left the Church because I struggled with SSA. I was not "gay," was Catholic, and was discerning because my Faith was important to me and as a SSA Catholic I couldn't even conceive of marriage. In that attempt to answer a call, I was told not to bother because I was honest about my orientation. That alone might have been fine, but SO many were conflating people like me with SA scandals and pedophilia and basically chasing any person with the unchosen inclination as their cross RIGHT out of the Church. I talked to my priest about it, and he suggested finding solace in a "gay mass" in the city. It was the opposite of what I wanted, and I stopped looking to priests and eventually bucked and left for 15 years. When I came back it appeared to me Francis was trying to be pastoral to people like me in a way I never saw before, and I loved him for it. I have since cooled on his talking out of both sides if his mouth, but I charitably DO believe he is trying to be like Jesus. Basically this is all very hard to grasp from where I am coming from. Vigano, Strickland, Francis, or whoever is not why I'm here, I'm here for Jesus. I won't be making the same mistake I did before and let someone else chase me from the Church. I'm a sinner, I'm sick, and I need the Church Christ formed to help me. I just wish more people were more charitable with each other. I also wish the clerical minded people who genuinely love God's law, would think more pastorally. I feel cheated sometimes, and wonder if I had a corrective yet pastoral priest if things would have been different. I apologize for maybe unwisely diving into criticism. I know I should just focus on my own spiritual and prayer life, but the issues being flung about are so central to me. One thing I will ask you. I see droves of these self described "rad trads" willing to skip mass for TLM and celebrating Vigano. Meanwhile the German Bishops, while appalling, seem to be acting against the wishes of laity and the majority of young priests. So when you ask who is doing more damage, I'm afraid from what I'm seeing it isn't the German Bishops. They're daming themselves and are joined by liberals who were going that way anyway. But don't tell me you don't see people voicing strong support with Vigano. You are actually the first who I have chatted with who had condemn him at all. So which path is more likely to condemn a fervent devout Catholic, otherwise on a holy path? I think it's the one willing to burn the house down over TLM and Vigano.

@evelynkerubo7398 Thank you for your response, and I do appreciate your perspective as being in the Church over more pontificates than me and seeing the evolution of all these factions. I suppose I just need to look at the lives of saints who lived through Church division and upheaval. And thank you, I agree with you. A large part of the problem with people who struggle with it IS the "accepting." I don't want acceptance, I want guidance and reassurance I can be holy with this problem. If I was a smoker with lung cancer I wouldn't see people who "lovingly" gave me cigarettes as friends. I know many tortured and twisted people with the problem, but I also know many Catholic laity that do view them as monsters. I often wonder which came first, did we conform to what was expected of us? I know I almost did, and I am amazed still that I came back. In coming back I encounter my Father, someone who after a few years had begun looking to schism himself, thinking about joining the Orthodox faith. It's funny how God works sometimes, my reconversion and defense against schism (I was always a very debate prone person...) he was snapped right back where he should be. It may have formed me to be sensitive about the schism so much. He, my sister, and I just celebrated Corpus Christi together and walked with the Holy Eucharist together as a family. I suppose what I should do is probably debate less online, and pray for a similar reunification of the Church. Thank you for your thoughts, I appreciate them, and feel your perspective has helped center me a bit more. I have an honest question, as a millennial who loves reading, but also still enjoys taking in a lot of KZbin...with you seeming to have a centered solid approach-are there any Catholic channels on KZbin you suggest? I follow Catholic Answers, Pints with Aquinas, and I do follow Michael Lofton-though I often can't watch his too long videos.

@evelynkerubo7398 Thank you! I am very interested in the Church Fathers, as I think they are some of the best for apologetics especially with Protestants. I have to say, my coming back to the Church stunned my protestant friend and while he is happy, I think he's confused. I am looking into the Didache after finishing rereading the Gospels, and I just began reading Charles Chaput's "Living the Catholic Faith, Rediscovering the Basics." Thank you for your suggestions!

@@tomburke7941 he would be a good bishop if he followed Donum Veritalis and stopped talking about “his truth”. He calls it “the truth” but it’s no different than what leftists do. He is supposed to go into prayer and be silent. Then he can get a flock again. Donum Veritalis commands theologians not to turn the public against the Magisterium (pope and college of bishops). He doesn’t take any effort to understand Pope Francis’s documents before criticizing them. A book could be made explaining his errors in judgment.
