The only one who is at fault here is UFC. UFC 295 was supposed to be Jones vs Stipe with Pavlovich the backup fighter. Jones got injured. By right, Stipe should fight Pavlovich but UFC wanted Stipe to fight Jones cos thats the money fight. UFC allowed Stipe to sit out 295. So Pavlovich vs Aspinall was scheduled for the interim belt. Both fighters did not prep for each other. Before 295, Aspinall was not even in the title picture. Now, back to Jones. Jones is close to retirement age and so is stipe. If UFC allows fighters to choose who to fight, will fighters choose the fight which pays more or the fight which they should work harder and pays less? Aspinall can be a co-main event but can't be The Main Event for now.
