I love how you tell people to not put the solution in the clean water tank. I hate how companies say thats how to use their machine. It does not allow the solution to do it's job. No Dwell time. Another thing I do, and may sound dumb, but I remove the top Vacuum cover of the machine and go back and forth on the carpet first to agitate the solution into the fibers. Then after that I put it back on and use it as normal removing the solution. Great video!

what do you mean by top vacuum cover? Are you talking about the lid where attachments connect?

@@rickross6368 Yea the clear part. That was the rollers run but it does not suck up the solution, just agitates it.

@Sh3lShock Its ok to put the cleaning solution in because its made to. If you want to clean it out all you gotta do is run clean water through it when your done. The fact this video misses is that tap water coming out of your sink has minerals in it that build up that's worse than cleaning solution so even if you run clean tap water theres a chance it will clog over time. For example Water Heaters have rods in them that's designed to capture those minerals. I bet there's a solution you could run through a steamer than breaks it up like CRL however it would have to be chemicals that don't hurt the rubber seals as well so CLR may not work. Just go look up something that's safe to run through these carpet cleaners & I bet there's something available. I'm actually glad I saw this video cause I hadn't thought about the issues I had with steam mops clogging up from tap water. If you don't use the carpet cleaning solution it wont clean near as good.

@@wandameadows5736 Thank you for the reply, and I do agree the machine is made for the solution to go in the tank but, What I was stating is that just putting it into the tank and running it that way does not give you the best clean. Carpet cleaner solution works off a PH level of around 8-9 and that is what is used to break down dirt and oils. When your just adding it to the water tank your not allowing the solution really any time to work before it sucks it up. Will it still clean your carpets? Yes, but not as good as it would if you allowed it time to dwell. You can see this done with professional carpet cleaners as they pretreat and agitate the carpet before extracting. Think of it like your dish washer. It moves all the water with the solution around so it gets on all the dishes, but then stops and lets it sit for a bit to allow dwell time before it goes into rinse mode. By all mean use it as the manufacture tells you to do so, but I just find this works better for me and it makes me feel like the carpet is cleaner. But that is just me.

If you haven't cleaned your carpets in years, thus machine will still leaves clumps of hari, fibersm etc on the rug as you make passes. It lets me know that it's time to stop and clean out under that cover. The amount of crap rhis machine pulks up is ju st amazing! We love it, hope it lasts!

The Minerals in your Tap Water are more of an issue than cleaning solution. I know this first hand because I have had several steam mops clog because of minerals in the tap water. Minerals that are like Rock & cleaning solution is 2 different thing though & the pressure on that steam producer should bust any cleaning agent right out but if your worried you can run clean water after you run detergent water but its not gonna help with minerals.

The issue I was making is why unnecessarily run any kind of cleaning solution through your steamer heater and through the nozzles? The manufacturers of these different cleaners only want you to use their own soaps through there machines. If you use a different cleaner than specified then it will void the warranty. So, 2 reasons not run soap through the shampooer. First, you can use any kind of cleaner you want, from powders to liquids. Second you have to run clear water through your tank anyway for when you rinse your carpet. It saves you the extra time to rinse, you wash and rise at the same time. Otherwise you have to make a special rinse pass.

I just picked one of these up from Walmart it was last one they had. I thought for the price it would be better than renting commercial cleaners everytime. Let me tell you, this thing performs better than rug doctor in my opinion. For the last ten years I've rented rug doctor once a year and it does decent but this thing picks up stains the rug doctor left behind. It's crazy how good it is for the price.

@@gmcxm211 I own a commercial rug doctor "The blue one" and I use to look down on people that used ones like this one. But What I liked about this one was the steam feature that actually heats up the water. So I bought one and I have yet lugged out my rug doctor because this one was great. The only draw back to this one is that they could have added some weight to the front for the vacuum part to push to the carpet more to allow more suction and faster dryer times. I tested this by going over it a few dry times with the vacuum and when it stopped sucking up I added weights to the front and it sucked up a hole lot more. But this was a test, as adding weights to this will most likely burn up your motor or break the belts. If only they had a feature that allowed you to do dry passes on without the brushes spinning then I would do it all the time. :)

if you can stand the smell, you could probably use cleaning vinegar as a substitute for solution. That shouldn't clog anything and will actually keep the machine clean if you have hard water. It'll stink though :)

You're using it totally wrong, you shouldn't apply water going forward, you are soaking the carpet. I have this machine and I use it as directed and I can deep clean an entire 10' by 15' carpet. If you are worried about corroding the element, after you use the machine, just run water through after your done using the machine.

True, but then you have to run the machine over the carpet again with no soap in the top tank rinse the carpet. No matter how you do it, it's going to take two or more passes to clean the carpet. One the second and or third pass you're not putting down more water, just vacuuming up the remaining dirty water. There is no carpet cleaner on this planet to where you can clean a carpet with just one pass. (unless you clean your carpet once a week) Just watch videos of professional carpet cleaners using steam cleaner and such and see the technique they use. They use two to three passes to clean carpets. Also you can use the quick clean mode on the machine which dispenses less water. So again why run soap through the heating elements when you don't have to?

No, use distilled water to save the heating element

This sounds crazy, paying $$$$$$ for 1 of the most expensive machines and newest technologies on the market and than going to buy an additional sprayer. Doesn’t sound right. Just say not worth the money

Sure you can put soap in the machine, but you'll end up doing the carpet twice. Because you will have to go over it to again to get the soap up (rinse cycle) shall I say.

Those sprayers are cheap, I mean you can usually get them for $5. But the key to any good carpet cleaning is getting all the solution off the carpet. Unless you are buying some commercial grade cleaning solution your going to have soap residue left over which will attract dirt and make your carpets looks dirtier faster. Best thing to do is make sure you are getting a solution that does not have soap in it.

Please don’t put that dirty water in the kitchen sink, why not the toilet and clean the parts outside. That water is disgustingly dirty
@gmcxm211

Yea that's why we have carpet cleaners to clean the dirt out of the carpets. It's the same dirt as if you went around dusting the house, typical household dirt you bring in from the outside. Same dirt you sit on at a picnic if you eat outside. Also shows how well this cleaner works if you think the water is disgustingly dirty. It's actually more coal dust than anything, I live only 2 miles from an open pit coal mine. They blast the soil/ground off the coal bed so that dust gets everywhere, once they clean the topsoil off the coal bed then they blast that also. When they blast all that coal dust also gets everywhere. Once a week when I dust the water I use looks the same and the dust cloth is black. So out west when we have dust storms, coal being blasted in the air the house can become very dirty at times.

The first thing professional carpet cleaners learn is to show the customers how much dirt is in their carpet by showing dirty water. This is deceptive because of the weight of the dirt/dust, it easily floats and the water appears to be dirtier than it really is. You can put a few pinches of dirt and mix it with 5 gallons of water and it will look dirty. Don't fall for the "look at the dirty water" trick! The second trick they learn is to sell the "scrub." Don't fall for that, either!

Interesting, it does make sense for what you are saying. But one thing I did find out about the cleaner, it does not leave excessive amount of water behind. When the upper tank empties the bottom tank is just about full. I never used a cleaner that picked up about 90% or better of the water it put down. The carpet is damp after I get done, but it's not wet. The ones I rented out or the older one I had, when the upper tank went dry, the pick up tank was half full. These would only pick 3/4 of a gallon if I was lucky.
