Well, the machine turned out quite nicely. Some may knock these machines but I had a PowerForce from 2005 and until I got my first Rainbow D4B SE (Canadian model, thus the B) it was one of two go-to vacuum cleaners. The other machine was a Shop Vac I bought for cheap from one of my local building places that I had equipped with a Eureka Sweep 'n' Groom power nozzle. The nozzle itself was more expensive than the Shop Vac being around $150 compared to around $50 respectively for the machines. I tried to turn the Shop Vac into something akin to a Rainbow where it would strictly rely on water bath capture but I kept setting the float valve off. I then had purchased the Rainbow and both previous machines were tossed. I did something to the Bissell's motor that caused the commutator to break apart in a small plume of smoke and I damaged the motor in the Shop Vac and became problematic as well. I guess I was experimenting too much. The Shop Vac really wasn't serviceable as the fan was pressed onto the motor shaft but my Ridgid that ultimately replaced it is one that I can actually take apart and service, which is a winner in my book.

Hey vaclab! I just wanted to suggest using turtle wax on the canister, brush window, and shiny plastics. It works wonders! The clear plastics look A LOT better, especially if it was taken care of. Just a suggestion to improve the already great vacuums you restore😊

I’d add bleach to the water

I recommend that in some cases.

@@VacLab I ues it in my dish water and I use it to wash my whites and towels

I wouldn't use it in dishwater. Bleech isn't ingestable, even in small amounts.

Honestly, bleach isn’t a good idea especially with metal parts since bleach will corrode metal very easily. There’s not very many metal parts inside modern plastic vacuums, but there are some. A enzyme based detergent in warm water with some agitation (hand agitation) will do a better job anyways.
