Thank for sharing this video. I always enjoy watching vacuum repairs. I can't tell you how many vacuums I've fixed. I find vacuums one of the easiest appliances to fix. People think vacuums should pick anything on the floor - including socks, sticks and toys! Then they just toss the vacuum when there is loss of suction and power. Their loss, my gain! Most of the time it's just a clog or a broken belt. I passed my knowledge down to my daughter and now she has a lot of very nice working vacuums!

Thank you Sir. Your video saved me money. Your instruction helped me take apart my vacuum, clean it, and put it back together. It now works perfectly.

Hello. Thank you for making this video! I fixed my vacuum cleaner after watching this. The filter was plugged with hair which caused the bush to stop spinning. It works just like new now.

On my Bissell Lift-Off upright vacuum, the power switch and the brush switch are on the body of the vacuum, but it's important to note that even though it's switched on the roller will not spin until you step on the foot release pedal.

You can easily disassemble the brush by standing it upright and using a pin punch and hammer on the long center pin the plastic cap will pop off undamaged. You can evan replace the bearings with nice Rollerblade ones like I did. the plastic caps can be just tapped back on no cracks or damage.

Question. If the wheels on each end of the brush don't move, is, it best to replace the brush or can it be unjammed?

Im thinking if you took out the filters...you could use the vacuum more or less as a shot vac for large mess clean up! And use the filter on regualr house cleaning :o

Now I understand why people used to purchase those canister-vacuums that drag on the ground behind you, with a long hose coming out the front end, and the little vacuum head on the far end. This is pathetic. No vacuum should require this much work, especially when it's new (supposedly, the one Walmart just sent me is, but the belt was broken on arrival).
@OpenHeadersTV2 жыл бұрын
That was Walmarts fault. Canister vacuums require equally as much maintenance as uprights.

Thank you for making this video it was very helpful and inspiring (taking a trashed vacuum and giving it new life). I just took mine apart and the brush doesn't spin. I checked and I don't see any hair in it. Do you think this means I need a new brush? There was also a burning smell but the belt looks fine.
@TheTeddy2142 жыл бұрын
check to see if the brush bar is seized . there is bearings on either side

@@TheTeddy214 Thank you for answering. Yes, I believe it is. I took it out of the vacuum and it won't spin in my hand either.
