Doesn't get better than this! Even your comment section provided the bearing number (608) too. Thank you for giving of tour time to teach us all how to make the roller repair professionally. before

Thanks! saved my mom from buying a new vacuum. I had some new 608's on hand so I was able to replace the rusty bearings for her before she finished her snack.

Thanks for the video, I was replacing the belt without knowing that the bearing is jammed. But now after removing the rust, machine is making heavy loud noise. I checked for any lose body part but cannot find any.

Nice video. I need to track down some of that Grease for some Hoover Convertible beater bars I need to order bearing for to get rebuilt and for a Electrolux CB that needs bearings worked on too.

I looked on Amazon for bearings. The number you gave. Kind of expensive are the skateboard bearings the same?
@VacLab2 жыл бұрын
I get everything on eBay, not Amazon.
@sonyahelms65172 жыл бұрын
So,,,,where do you buy the bearings? Asking for a friend of course.
@VacLab2 жыл бұрын
I get most everything from eBay. Just search the bearing number.

Hey vaclab just got a older bissell powerforce compact like the one you have, and the brush roll sound terrible. Thinking about replacing it most likely but also considering replacing the bearings (if it is the bearings), and I haven’t replaced a bearing in my life, could you help me please?

@@VacLab well I’m in Texas and that would take a while I’m assuming. How much? And just fyi it makes a crunchy sound when I turn it
@VacLab Жыл бұрын
@@Thevacuumenthusiast it's going to be cheaper if you just buy a new one rather than paying shipping both ways plus labor and parts.

@@VacLab thank you for helping! I’m probably going to find a cheap brush roll or find the kind of bearing and replace them. Thanks vaclab!

Your video was educational! Now I know that WD-40 does not suffice for grease. And the idea to use sockets to help remove and possibly replace bearings was educational too. At the end, you should have stood up your just completed and treated brushroll up on it’s end and then give it the spin test. Take into account that the new bearing and the new grease have to be “broken in“ first. This video will come in handy as I right now have two trashpicked PowerForce 2191s, both of which need brush roll bearing surgery. One of them also needs a new height adjuster as the tab on one side is busted off. Do you have a video for a Jerry rig repair for that or does it strictly require getting a new height adjuster?

I have a Bissell Momentum. I replaced the belt when it snapped and it was so loud! I figured it was the bearings and looked at eBay as recommended. What I was about to order listed “for skateboards” as one use. It dawned on me that I had some new skateboard bearings in the garage. I don’t know the rpm rating etc but they were the right size. Swapped them in and it’s so much quieter! For now, that will work!

What size bearings are you using I know they are 608z

It's clearly mentioned in the video.
@guypawlak8762 Жыл бұрын
The 608Z bearings are 8mm Bore, 22mm OD, and 7mm W.

Might sound like a dumb question.. Where would I be able to purchase replacement bearings for the Bissell roller brush? I was able to look online to locate replacement brushes. Though they are the proper length they don't comply with the spot where the belt placement should be. Also not listed for the specific model# of the vacuum I have.
@VacLabАй бұрын
@MatthewMcguire-g1s I buy all my bearings on eBay. Most common size is 608.
@britt49952 ай бұрын
Does it matter what way the bearings go?
@VacLab2 ай бұрын
Nope. They are symmetrical.
@GenerationXT4 ай бұрын
I had to do this with a brand-new OEM brush roll. They had the bearings too tight in the inserts. This basically rendered the spring washer useless, resulting in a sloppy fit and noise.

Bummer. Glad you got it fixed though.

All bearings are "sealed", so I guess you mean rubber or metal seals then. 😁
