Yeah this is why I've honestly never used steam cleaner accessories. Even for car upholstery like you have to get a big old extension cord and haul everything out to your car, when you could just go to the carwash and use the stuff that they have to clean inside of your car... I live in an apartment too, so even the extension cord to the car is really not a good idea for me (I live on the second floor). I throw my dog beds in the washing machine, or for the ones that are too big we have a waterproof cover for a toddler mattress on the bed then a toddler bed sheet over it as well, mostly just wash the sheet once a week, wash the waterproof cover if there is ever a mishap. Work smarter, not harder.

He had me at detachable compartments. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats and this will make my 4th vacuum in the last 3 years. I love my pets and I love a clean house. I don’t want it to sound like I’m complaining. I vacuum a lot and take full responsibility for burning out the last three. I can’t wait to try out vacuum #4. There are some long term benefits to the expensive version, and they both come down to being able to remove the brush plate as well as the suction plate. It requires taking off the 2 belts and rollers on the cheaper version to clean the rollers well. With dirty rollers the spray nozzles above the rollers get clogged, and the entire spray "reservoir" that feeds the nozzles can get clogged up, causing the problem to occur again and again since there is no way to clean that reservoir without taking apart the whole machine. Since keeping the whole thing clean is key to long machine life and efficient day to day use the extra $$$$ can be worth it. Out of the box they are effectively the same, but after a year the expensive version will likely be in much better shape, especially if used regularly.

With the cleanshot, I sprayed the stains in the room the began working the room as normal. Letting the solution sit before making passes helps a lot.

Yeah. It just defeats the whole purpose of it. A spray bottle does the same thing more efficiently. I can hit up multiple rooms with a spray bottle in a few moments without having to drag the carpet cleaner around the house ahead of time.

@OneDayAfterAnother I have pretty standard medium pile carpet. I've really only ever used the normal setting and it's always dry within a couple hours. So I would say it does a pretty good job sucking up the moisture. The waste and supply tanks are both supposed to be 1 gallon and it usually fills up the waste tank first, with very little left in the water supply. I think mostly because of how the waste tank works and the bubbling from the detergent. I think I tend to over fill the supply a by a bit too. So take that for what it's worth.

I just bought the pet pro 2X and absolutely love it. I didn’t realize there was a slightly cheaper one but that’s OK, I really love how well it cleaned both my house and my neighbors house who I split the machine with. I did notice that with the extra pet attachment for the hose it worked really well on her stairs where she has a long-haired dog and it acted like a really nice vacuum to suck up the hair before I switched it over to wet mode

One of the reasons we got the pet pro was because of the ability to take it apart and clean it. The pet fur getting stuck in those hard to reach spaces is what’s killed other carpet shampooers for us.

Using a really good vacuum beforehand can help, our house always used a cheap vacuum (also a Bissell) to clean our carpets before we steam cleaned and always had large amounts of fur in our reservoir that especially at my family's house with all of our dogs, it killed steam cleaners like no tomorrow. Just recently I got a Shark Navigator and have found that I have literally no fur accumulation in my reservoir, though we do get the matted clumps of carpet fibers from the spinning brushes, don't suck those up pick them up by hand, but no fur.

After seeing this I'm going with the cheaper one, since if they're pretty much the same just one offers extra solution spray and a different house attachment that only works so, so, not worth the extra $100. Thank you for the video review. I went out and purchased the Pet version (Orange). It really is easy to use and does a great job. I have an older rug doctor which is bulky compared to the Bissell and it is designed to work in only one direction. My only complaint and it is not much of one is that you do have to empty the dirty water tank more frequently than I would like. Thank you again.

We grabbed the proheat 2x pro couple of days back and we’ve just completed our first room. I would say it was fantastic and thorough deep cleaning. We could spot the difference instantly. Btw, we used the Concrobium carpet shampoo.

I'm trying to compare apples to apples between this, which I have already, and the new Ryobi Swift Clean mid size battery powered spot cleaner. I think Ryobi claims it is 70 IOW, with 29 cfm. Would that be a device you'd be willing to test?

Pro tip. Always use a half the amount of cleaning solution with these home pet carpet cleaning machines. Then go over the stained area more often. The reason is the more detergent you leave behind the dirtier the carpet will get. Because detergents attract dirt makes sense right? That's what it's supposed to do. Nothing beats the horsepower of a truck mounted system but these machines are great for getting spot cleaning in a pinch. Also not every stain can be got with the solution provided. An acidic stain requires an alkaline solution to balance out the stains PH level and vice versa. Getting technical I know. Haha. Cheers.

You had me leaning toward the orange unit as saves a bunch of money and I am on a budget, but the removable tray on the pet pro for ease of cleaning may have me swinging the other way. (Read a review from someone who returned it being difficult to clean and clogging on them) Your review was thorough for removing stains, but as you weren't dealing with lots of pet hair, we were not able to see a comparison in ease of cleaning the unit itself. ( My only critique.)

That's why I bought it. I want to be able to easily clean the brush housing area so it doesn't dry and smell in the closet. The extra spot shot thing is also really satisfying to use on nasty stuff on your carpet, even if just for the mental satisfaction

Excellent review! I'm going with the "Pet Pro" only because of the access to the roller bushes. I have a Hoover Cleaner and the brushes and suctions nozzle are impossible to clean. With the Pet Pro I'll be able to clean the brushes and cover much more easily when they get gummed up with residue. Which makes the Pet Pro worth the extra money.

My Hoover's brushes and nozzle come off with a Philips screwdriver, then I wash them in the sink. Not sure of the model though, it's a red/maroon one with spinning brushes from around 2018.

Maybe try doing your artificial hair tests on these two vacuums and see the differences in hair clogging and machine cleaning difficulty. For a lot of people any money savings is not worth the time spent having to get pet hair out of the machine.

what are the differences in the ProHeat versions, I see they have ProHeat 2x pet 1548, 1548F, 1548P, 1550X, 1551, 1986, 15501, 15508, 22837, 22839.. and the list goes on. Thinking of buying one of these, but not sure which one to get, I can get a 1548 thats new for $110, or I might just buy the Hoover Smart Wash Pet FH53000 for $140

I've had the "orange one" since December of 2017, and bought it because of the price. I couldn't see spending the extra just to be able to squirt stains. However - it is a bear to try and get apart to clean the rollers. After doing a quick clean up, I noticed that the cleaner just wasn't working right; leaving suds on the floor along with cat hair clumps. I spent an hour trying to take out the rollers, clean the compartment, and replace them. There was so much cat hair trapped in all the cracks and crevices that I could have built another cat. If at all possible, the next one I buy will be the "purple one". Ease of cleaning is a big factor. Other than that, I am very happy with the purchase.

Bought the regular Bissel pet. Mine is blue and I got it at Target. I didnt need the squirt feature or the extra attachment. Save $100 folks! It works amazing. But it doesnt shine as bright on any hi pile type carpet. Water pickup suffers. I use the cord to hold the handle and ever slightly just push the head going backward. Sucks up the water. Not pushing down just backwards if this makes sense. We have something like this on our top level. On regular carpet this thing is a star. Ha ds down. Works AMAZING. worth it. Buy it! Cat foster mom approved!

Your tests should include loudness. For example, we got the Bissell green pro-2505, it works great but it's loud as hell. I world of looked at other models if one was quieter, it's so loud in my 1200sq house it wakes everyone up. Oh and if you lift it off the ground sweet lord it's almost twice as loud.

I’ve been thinking for ages why doesn’t he do loud tests comparisons. Loud appliances are a huge turn off for me. I heard the Bissell spot clean pro (which I want) is really loud and some ppl use ear plugs….at least I got some insight from that’s it’s really loud. I even have ninja blender that although I read reviews saying it’s loud as fuck, I still brought it cuz it worked well but now I avoid using it at certain times cuz it’s and wakes ppl - sucks when u want a smoothie in the morning.

Thank you, Chris. I have the Pet Pro and it does fine. And I even have pets. Messy pets. I never use that silly spray nozzle thing. It's not easy to aim. I do think the ability to remove the parts and access the brushes from the top is very useful as mine is always full of pet hair. One thing I don't like about the Bissells is that you cannot rinse with clean water (unless you fill the tank with plain water and the cleaning solution doesn't mix automatically. Similar Hoovers do both of these useful things. If I had to buy it again, I might get a Hoover for the ability to rinse with clean water and the auto carpet soap mixing. But . . . the Bissell does fine.

@@src4409 You can in the Bissell machine by going over the carpet with plain water in the tank. With the Hoover, you can just flip a switch and stop soap dispensing (plain water). At least that used to be the case on the several Hoover machines I've had over the past 20 years.

The proper way to clean a carpet is to apply the cleaning solution first in a pump sprayer or something similar, and just use the carpet cleaner to do a rinse/suction pass anyway so the spot clean feature is completely useless.

I have the pet and when I use the hose the brush still spins and so someone has to tip it some or otherwise the brush will just keep spinning causing damage to our floor. I have read my manual and didn't see anything about it and I checked reviews and read some had gotten rid of there's for the same reason. Can you tell me how to fix it? Thank you

Can you open the smaller head to clean it out??? You can't on the Green Machine ..... Looking at the first stain test, the pet ver hade crisper edges then the pro.

Yeah, we got one of those a while back, I would imagine it isn't as good since it doesn't have that dual roller design and also I noticed hair gets stuck in the suction inlet.
