I've never seen any anime character move like that before, but since I saw your rotoscoping video, I can see the technique come out in this piece clearly. What gorgeous spaceships!

What do you call this style of animation? The bright neons, shining metal surfaces. I still watch the old Gundam and 80s mecha shows. A beautiful style. Transformers also come to mind.
@skinflutey9 жыл бұрын
Animae or japanimation.
@legiterally_just_a_slime9 жыл бұрын
skinflutey Anime, yeah. Does anyone actually call it "Japanimation" any more?
@bored_person8 жыл бұрын
Neither of the replies are correct. Anime doesn't refer to a style, it simply refers to japanese animation, which tends to have a certain style. Works which use and/or take influence from said style, such as this video, are referred to as "animesque", though you could probably get away with calling them "anime style" or even "japanese style".
@Magiasama888 жыл бұрын
ijfharvey What style, within Japanese animation, would you call this?? By the artist or trend?
@bored_person8 жыл бұрын
Iain Magown I am not familiar enough to answer that, I am more into western animation myself, but there are probably plenty of people who could answer that. All I can say is that it looks like a modern space battle series with smoother and more complex animation than most anime.

I don't get how these videos aren't getting millions of views. I think most people are assuming its cut scenes from old anime OVAs, maybe they don't realize ONE GUY made this. Or maybe somebody could help Paul with his tagging

It's because the YT algo has gone to sht these days. When it isn't $hadow-banning people for wrong-think it won't reward REAL content creators like Otaking because they don't upload videos every day.

Wait, was this another one using 3D modeling to base the 2D drawing on? I'm not sure, after watching the Rotoscoping Over 3D Reference video... It's just... it feels rather off. Like, it's got the fluid movement of 3D animation, but the appearance of 2D actually clashes with it... It still looks amazing! But it makes me wonder.
