I've costed animation out before, so I'm going to make an assumption that your 10 episodes are around 20 minutes of animation. These are rough estimates based on working in animation for a while, mainly in China, but I worked at Disney before too. Anyway you only have a script, so you'll have to design the characters, style guide sets, and also a pilot to calculate your workflow. You are looking at a budget of minimum 100k USD, but big companies spend a lot more like that, I worked on a CM pilot that was almost 500k and it was a year's worth of work before they cancelled it. Then you are looking for a TVpaint studio to out source to. They quote you a price in minutes, but that price varies on the amount of minutes you offer. For 200 or so minutes a studio in China or India will charge you between 5-10k a minute per footage, depending on story and animation complexity. A pilot helps with this. This animation was done in TVpaint. Of you want to save money find a studio that works in flash, but you won't get this look. There are still other costs, such as fix ups, voice and marketing, travel etc. You have to understand the animator here is working out of his own will and doesn't have anyone to answer to, so the environment is very different. Also I think he spent a lot of time on this short. What you are asking for is several years of commitment. This isn't cheap. Hope it helps.

@Utrilus
@Utrilus 3 жыл бұрын
The motion is so wishy washy over the place is because he doesn't understand how people move, he doesn't use reference. It's inexperience unrelated to him rotoscoping the 3d models. Tho what is a factor is him putting way more polish on his animation. It feels like he's animating everything on 1's instead of using as many stills as possible - which is done to speed up the work and make it cheaper to produce. Edit: truth be told this reminds me of redline.

Absolutely jawdropping. Recently rewatched the Ninja Gaiden and Salamander OVA movies, so happening upon this today fits. Love that mid 80s-early 90s vibe like Bubblegum Crash, Detonator Orgun, Cyber City, AD Police Files, Tokyo Vice, etc. Your work blows away anything from the Star Wars Visions trailers, major companies like Netflix or whoever should be hiring you for an anthology.

I miss the 80's-90's cartoon style. The three-dimensional rendering of Stage 1 is just as I imagined, and the direction of the allies coming to cover is also typical of R-TYPE.

R-Type is one of my favourite old school shmups and I totally agree with this anime reimagining it was tough as nails and getting past that first boss battle was a nightmare.

R Type final is crazy with how the plot rewinds itself and goes all over the place linking the other games altogether lol
