I'm getting my Shapeoko Pro tomorrow and because of this video I ordered the Bitrunner Deluxe. Interestingly enough I don't see, in the "What's included", any mounting materials. Hopefully they didn't get rid of that. With all that said, I just wanted to thank you for all your content. You have been so helpful for me.

Sam, I didn’t order the bitrunner with my Pro either figuring I can turn on the router switch what’s the big deal? I also thought it might be safer as maybe you suggested. The first time I forgot to turn on the router and the bit plowed into my part I ordered the bitrunner. I should say I put my email on the list as it was out of stock with a message that it might never be back in stock. Fortunately that was not the case and I got a notice within a couple of weeks. Installation was simple as you say except for those missing screws. My machine came with spare screws of different sizes so no trips to Ace for me. Great automation device. The other thing I have done on longer runs is comment out the bit setter step in the gcode. Be careful with this but it does speed up machining especially with multiples of the same part.

I just ordered the bitrunner deluxe today, they where on sale Black Friday sale, they of course was out of the Standard one so I bought the deluxe one. Wasn’t going to buy it but hell why not and got $10 off and on Tuesday I bought the bit probe but of course it wasn’t on sale then. You are a selling machine because after I watched your videos I spent money, lol 😂

@@Samcraftcom actually Sam I had to call them and ask for the Black Friday sale discount, and without question they refunded me back $200. Sam, nice video series. I’m waiting on the orders for the pro to open back up. This will be CNC #3 for the shop. I would like to encourage you to add an emergency stop paddle between the wall receptacle and the BitRunner. I always put them on the left front corner of my stand around thigh height. (Same height at the paddle on a SawStop). In an emergency, I can use my hand to slap the paddle and stop everything. And if my hands are full i can just bump it with my thigh. (Note: same goes for my router table. Same height, same spot. Easier to find it blind in an emergency.)

Sam I have a question at what point in the process of homing your machine and measuring bits do you do the probing to set the xyz Thanks Jeff Peters. The other question I have is this You have finished running a job that required 3 different bits and now you have a job that requires changing to a different size wood and different size bit how does how does that process work.I have the same machine as you do with the same addons as you have. The one thing I DO NOT like about the bit runner is that after you click on resume, it lowers the Z back down before it turns the spindle back on. IMHO, the spindle should come on first before lowering back down.

How do you add a vacuum to the bit runner? Funny, mine didn’t come with the mounting hardware. I had to make a make shift box I screwed to my back wall🤬🤬🤬
@Samcraftcom3 жыл бұрын
Just plug in an electrical splitter to the end of the power cord and let her rip! :) I added one to mine and it's really awesome to have complete automation now!
@christophercolacurci85732 жыл бұрын
@@Samcraftcom How many amps does your vacuum pull? Just curious if you've ever popped the breaker yet. The spindle is supposedly around 6 and most "shop vac" like my Rigid float around 9amps. I wanted to hook both up but figured I might be pushing my luck with them starting up at the same time.

Iv watched another video of someone with the Shapeoko CNC and in his video he said he had retire part of his garage because the slighted electrical interference will cause the machine to crash and his was crashing all the time and the only way to fix it was to shut it off. I’m looking to buy a CNC and I’m on the fence of which to go with because of that. Have you had any problems like that?
@urban21533 жыл бұрын
So a relay (ssr?) to a receptacle in a metal box for $80. Not so over priced but easily made much cheaper if you are inclined which in CNC is a good thing.
@RonInAVan3 жыл бұрын
Sam is that a tablet you are controlling the CNC with? right now I’m using my good laptop. I would love to find something else to use. I haven’t been able to use the CNC, waiting on a part from Carbide.

Thanks Sam for another great video, now I have one more thing to order for my Pro :) BTW, to pulling the wire you can also use something like Klein Tools 56108 Pull Line and tie a small piece of carboard to the end of the string and use a vac on the other side to suck the string through, then attach the string to the wire to pull through. Also if you don't have help you can put some of the blue painter's tape on the edges of the extruded tube opening to lower the risk of cutting your wire while you pull it.

In an emergency the entire machine should be disconnected from the power supply. You shouldn't rely on a piece of software that might even be causing the problem by itself.
