I mean I can. You gotta remember that right around this time both Austria, and Hungary were in the shitter economically and Czechoslovakia was an ethnic ticking time bomb. If Otto seized power the Czechs would probably fall in line just to get some sense of legitimacy to try and prevent the collapse of their artificial state. After that Horthy would be easy to dispose of by bribing the people around him with government jobs in the reborn empire as his political situation while more stable in the macro sense was very knives out in the micro sense.

Fun fact: if you go down "the better german state you can also choose the 1st Option which allows you to core all of germany ontop of coring Austria-Hungary which is just insanity, especially because it goes state by state. Meaning if you went to war with germany and the Allies took some Land in the peace deal you can still core the states of Germany you took for 100 pp each

If you completed the focus on creating Central Powers, you could've dodged Anschluss. The event will pop up saying that Austria sought allies and it was too risky for Germany to attack them, which will completely remove the Anschluss decision from Austria and Germany will skip the focus

@wafflehous6826 that is true but there's about a 140 day window when you can improve relations and diplo pressure germany and get a non aggression pact, as long as you keep two army's on the the border they can't break it. Note try and kill Yugoslavia and romanina within the first year

The other way in that focus tree works amazingly. You end up with most of the Austria-Hungary empire cored before 38. It cost more PP but you have 150 factories and 40 million core population before Germany tries to annex.

If you do end up doing a liechtenstein playthrough, you should try spicing it up by having one of your goals being to take alaska, since historically it's been speculated that the russians were considering selling the territory to them instead of the US

@Bitt3rSteel if you do the central powers focus it cancels anchlus. then give away the sudattenland and magic, no war with the Germans. this is espes true if you the annex route. If you go the annex route, though, the real trick is to annex Romania and Yugslavs 40ish days before the Germans demand; that way, you can fo the Austrian Empire focus and get all the extra cores.

Hey bittersSteel i got a video idea for you. when you play germany with the göterdämmerung Dlc you have to conquer all of europe with out doing any political focuses and after you annex all of europe you do the civilwar and flip democratic and then you can form the european union (this worked long before the göterdämmerung Dlc) but now you can also core ALL of europe including russia (but only till the urals) I hope that you see this and make a video about it

I completed the axis focus and they accepted me ( I went full on facsism), this will NOT save you from anschluss, unless it's a bug. Later in the game they still demanded it, I said no and you automatically leave the axis..

If Germany and Austria are in a faction together, Germany gets an event to Anschluss them for free. So if you haven't tag switched to Austria-Hungary yet, don't join their faction.

Ahh yes this run.... for me 1939-40 pupeted germany(when i got Poland as PU germans had NO troops on border), 2-3 months later soviets came for polish land, 1946 soviets end where I pupeted them... inbetween pupeted italy oh and 1946 USA did manual war goal on me... there wasnt city left in USA that wasnt hit by Habsburgs ICBM with H-bomba. 1960s war ended. I had "Crawl out Through the Fallout" while i invaded usa from ocean... since usa was wasteland.

Regarding Lichtenstein: you can core the Austria-Hungary territory. I cored it as soon as i could and i could still form Lichtenstein. On a side note: i hate it when you try to pronounce german words “properly”, it sounds so wrong.
