The best way to start is to do Rhineland. Use the PP for whichever advisor you want (Borman is the usual choice for more PP), but the gem is the 5 army XP. Create a new division with a single infantry. Convert the army except the 4 you want to send to Spain, to free up guns. Then spam a bunch of these, and deploy ASAP, allowing you to send 4 volunteers. Then change all of them to motorized (your biggest starting unit). Then you can do Anchlus on third focus, and if you did it right then Sudetan after that. Make the Slovak puppet, as it will give you compliance in Bohemia/Moravia. This plus standard economy build up will make your economy super strong.

My current meta is having a line of infantry divisions on the front line pushing slowly, and tons of motorised pushing very aggressively looking for a gap anywhere. Once there’s a gap you can encircle them all over the place and destroy them. Works against anyone really. I make the motorised 40-42W with their own flame tanks and motorised artillery (or rocket infantry if I get that far). I make sure to keep the speed at 12+

I tested this during one of my German Empire games against The Soviets, it was expencive but with all my air there were SO MANY OVERRUNS. I took around 7-15k causualties, it was the most satifying thing ever.

Armored Cars are actually really useful for a shocktroop template because they can bring firepower and armor to motorized whilst being able to keep up speed wise. Also! Hi Bitt3r, I do something similar. I make a 10 width modern light tank division. and scatter a few of those into my army. With German perks, I can get the speed up to 20. (5 times faster than the infantry units) Other units punch the holes in the line and these units just race through and take everything behind the lines. The light tank focus is a lot cheaper on my industry too.

I like motorized way more than tanks. They're cheaper and faster than tanks but can still pretty much do the same job. The only real advantage tanks have is breakthrough. Motorized + artillery + support AT + CAS will still easily make units that are good enough to break the AI's lines. Then just fill the gaps with regular infantry to hold the line.

The funny thing about Germany before the war was it didn't have that much of an actual mass manufacturing car industry. British, French and of course Americans were far ahead. And that.. had an impact in the long run. Germany used more horses during WW2 than during WW1.

The horses were use due to fuel rationing. The idea was well less of an idea and more of an adaptation to reality. German heavy tanks were absurdly thirsty and the lighter tanks weren't much better. Between the armor, and the Air Force there was no fuel left for logistics.

I'd like to see an Air Influencer challenge, where you play as any secondary nation for Allies/Axis and influence the war favorably by only sending air power. Like Canada refusing to put boots on the ground in Europe so you can only send any Air you can. Same with an Axis secondary power, maybe Hungary? HoI IV, to me, is like when you can understand a language, but can't speak it. So forgive me if I get anything wrong here. So the idea with basic infantry is that they walk everywhere, right? Except you also have the option to put them on trains to move somewhere faster at the cost of... organization, was it? Frankly, I think they'd be fighting better if they didn't just march, say, across all of Siberia. But that's just me. So then motorized is just infantry, but they get to ride in trucks instead of walking. That's neat. But I seem to recall just about every division in World War II was motorized. Even the 101st Airborne when they weren't dropping. There's a few exceptions. Marines on the small islands of the Pacific ended up having to walk a lot. But they still got truck transports eventually. Like when a battle was over and supplies could come in. But then, would that just be strategic redeploy? I mean, wouldn't motorized divisions then all technically be strategically redeploying? It's not like they're driving their trucks into the enemy during combat. They get out first. Yet that doesn't affect their organization. Cavalry is just motorized except their transports have flesh and guts and not motors. At this point in history, cavalry used horses for transport, and that was it. But they don't get organization debuffs either. Mechanized makes sense. The transportation has weapons. The Big Red One even went into north Africa with these trucks that had cannons on the front. The infantry inside gets out, but the vehicle can still operate in combat. They can even act as cover for the infantry. So no confusion there. So... I just don't see why motorized divisions even exist.
