The African head pipe is superbly modelled, what a treasure of a find. The little leg is wearing leggings which fastened under the foot with elastic. I had some to match my winter coat when I was very small in the 1940s

Lovely finds and interesting too. The head pipe is gorgeous such detail shame Kate did'nt find it but she will find one one day. Love the stopper in the strange colour and so many little heads too.

Aww Kate's little face, she looked so sad but your time will come. You did find lots of heads and I think the clay soldiers head could be lord Kitchener. Lots of lovely finds Though, thank you and enjoy your week

So many great heads found today! Fleur, I know a mother always wants the best for a child but don't be sad when you find a head pipe. It lessens the joy of the find. Both of you find amazing things at different times so rejoice in each find. Love the history-I would love to sit in a cocoa room!

Fleur, what a fabulous find in the head pipe bowl. How stunning they are. The detail is beautiful, just so sad that they were made for terrible times in our history. Kate, take heart, a wonder is waiting for you out there somewhere. Time will tell. 🤞 I hope you wait for a better fitting body for the cute little chap with the night cap, but if you decide you must use, then let it be the first body. The forzen charlot one looked wired 😳 You found some really interesting treasures on this lark. I'm looking forward to seeing your next dolls house craft. Happy hunting ladies, on your next lark. X

One of my 7th great grandfathers arrived in Virginia on a prison transport, sentenced to work 7 years on a tobacco plantation. Maybe some of the 18th century pipes that are sometimes found on the Thames once contained tobacco from fields that he worked in.

The large clay “marbles” are actually small clay balls that were part of Five Stone (Alley Gob) sets. The sets came with five gobbies and a ball. The ball was thrown up into the air while the gobbies were snatched up, just like modern day jacks are played.

The two of you are great, you never cease to amaze me with what you find. Looking forward to mudmas and mini mudmas. Thanks
@lisascenic2 жыл бұрын
I think you have to use mini-mass, because it’s a homonym of minimus, which is a noun meaning the smallest or least substantial thing. In Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream, Lysander insults Hermia (and particularly her shortness) by saying “Get you gone, you dwarf, You minimus of hindering knotgrass made, You bead, you acorn!” Any quotation that references both tiny beads and acorns seems PERFECT for Kit and Caboodlers.
