@puddles550110 күн бұрын
instant buy. i was loosely in the market for a new interface anyway and as a bitwig user with an interest in modular stuff its a no brainer
@IzopticMusic10 күн бұрын
Bitwig, with all its modulators, audio routing options and The Grid was already a perfect match for modular and semi-modular. The "only" thing missing was an interface with DC-coupled outputs and tight, high-resolution integration with all that. So, I think they created exactly the right hardware companion for their DAW. This is going to be a lot of fun with all the cheap-ish semi-modulars that are now available. They typically have only a minimal MIDI implementation to control parameters, but Bitwig and this interface will turn them into parameter automation monsters.

@IzopticMusic10 күн бұрын
@@papathrv1968 Does it, though? It's really a matter of taste, I suppose. To me aesthetics are not at the top of my list when evaluating software, functionality and workflow are. Bitwig excels in both and to me doesn't look dated at all.

i also jumped on the hype wagon of bitwig being an ableton user and while i was blown away by some of it's features, actually it not revolutionary. I produce more songwriter music so i presume for sound designers and such it is fantastic for it's quirky niche feature set .Otherwise i find their dev's tend to avoid everything else to stand out so while it's not a swiss army knife it definitely is an impressive katana .

I don't understand why Bitwig would go 4 in and 12 out. The whole point of multi outputs is outboard gear, which requires inputs if they're not inserts. I'm trying hard to think of a home recording situation where you would want 8 output channels that can't return to the interface. If anyone has ideas, let me know.
@valdir742610 күн бұрын
I use outputs for multichannel setups mostly (nothing to do with video), and in this case it's made for eurorack so that gives you enough outputs to use as cv.

I don’t know anyone who uses bigwig but that sound card is a good concept! I personally like interfaces with more outputs than inputs as to perform live with multiple channels going to front of house/ mixer. … at least I was looking for that in 2011 when actively jamming with Ableton Live on stage. Since I learned more about song writing and arrangement and mixing and mastering I am fine with a finished singback / playback in a DJ software and live vocals on top. Not to defend Bitwigs abominatious audio interface here, but it has nothing to do with a comparisson to Ableton. It's simply an extension to Bitwig, which by default is the better ableton live in almost all aspects except their Max4Live and default inbuilt stock instrument/fx devices.
@GrayGhostDog110 күн бұрын
@ … my response had nothing to do with the DAW, Live, itself. Your belief that the Bitwig DAW is better than Live in many ways may be an opinion held by several others, but it’s not in relation to my response about the OP saying Ableton has to step it up with their hardware since this Bitwig Connect has been announced. I think Bitwig did a really good thing by beginning to offer hardware that should seamlessly integrate with their DAW. Building an ecosystem may convert more individuals to the DAW.
